Sleeping Beauty
Sean was all excited about our trip. Thursday, 12 June, 2014
We are back on the road again, this time with our grandson, Sean, who is 10 years old. His mother brought him over early this morning and we managed to get out a little after 8, early for us.
I think Sean was asleep by the time we got to I-40, but we woke him up to see the Mississippi River at Memphis. As always, the roads between Memphis and Little Rock were awful, full of potholes and lousy patch jobs. We were in stop and stop traffic around Forrest City due to road construction, it took us half an hour to go 8 miles. Past Little Rock, however, the road was quite nice and the traffic not so heavy.
The weather experts had us dreading thunder storms and maybe hail by late afternoon, but we only had light rain around Conway. We saw no bad weather around us and the skies had pretty much cleared by the time we got to Oklahoma.
We are stopped for the night at Tenkiller State Park near Vian, OK. It's a beautiful park with a 12,000
The Mighty Mississippi
After all the rains, the river is wide and fast. acre crystal clear lake. Sean had a great time swimming, diving and cannon balling into the lake before supper. Then he rode his bike around the campground both before and after supper. Hopefully it will wear him out so he can sleep tonight after sleeping most of the day.
