Just a quick update to let you know what's happening here.

The curfew hours have been reduced. Now we need to be in by midnight and the BTS and MRT stop running at 11. Much more convenient for dinner out after working until 7, so I'm happy. Most stores are open their normal hours now. It also means 7-11 is open until midnight, so last night I went to bed with the 7-11 light on again, as it should be. (Of course, that's earlier than I usually go to bed, but that's beside the point.) The curfew runs until 4am. There's rumors circulating that they might remove the curfew in tourist areas... and Bangkok is a tourist area, right? I can hope!

The immigration office that I used to loathe because it's so far away has been closed for months due to the protests. The location we had to use instead was crowded and felt disorganized and had really long wait times because it was a significantly smaller space. The far-away place is set to reopen next week and I'm quite excited since I need to go back for my normal 90-day check-in next month.

Facebook was blocked/down yesterday for about an hour. Many speculate that the military did it, but the military denies it, saying it was a technical glitch. I'm not going to speculate either way. At the end of the day, I'm sure people care less about who or how, and more about it not being blocked anymore. My newsfeed was filled with statuses of anger, frustration, and panic. My reaction: Oh, irony. After living in China for 5 years, it takes a lot more to get me worked up.

Life continues as normal otherwise.
