OAXACA WITH DONZETTA - 2014

Hi everyone,

I am still in awe of my good fortune in being here in Oaxaca and having all of the many wonderful experiences. There is truly no other place that I would rather be.

I am now posting pictures of the clinic where I volunteer and the school where I study. You can then see why I considered myself fortunate. I wish you could all be here in person to experience Oaxaca.

Ir a la clinica
I take the bus to the clinic and this is the corner where 'me bajo del autobus' and I walk 3 blocks to the clinic.

This a photo of me, Ariceli and Benita.

This is a photo of 'la otra quimica' with Benita and I.

This is a picture of the housekeeper with me and Benita. The housekeepers wear pink.

This is a picture of the person in the pharmacy, me and another housekeeper (off-duty).

This is the office of the optician. En this photo is 'la quimica, me and the lady who works in the optical area. She is very outgoing and funny.

Aqui viene el autobus para mi
Here comes the bus to take me home. This is where I catch it after I walk from the clinic.

This is a view of the gate to the school from inside the grounds.

These are different conversation groups on the grounds toward the front of the school

This is a side garden of the school grounds with a fountain

Adentro de la escuela
This is a view toward the rear of the school. Such a beautiful place. It was the home of the grandparents of the directora of the school.

Here are some students studying on the grass of the large inside area of the school.

The is one of the areas where the clases are held.

El patio fuera de la cafeteria
This is he patio area outside of the cafeteria where there are tables for eating or for the hour of conversation.

Muchas flores bonitas
Everywhere you look there are beautiful flowers. I am always asking the question "are these real". Of course the answer is always "yes".

Otro Jardin
This pathway leads to another garden with a well and to other parts of the house for classes and offices.

Mi maestro de clase privada
This is my private instructor. He is in charge of all of the instructors. I am the luckiest person to have him. He knows everything!

La maestra de tejido
This is the weaving instructor at her personal stall in the Zocalo. I go there to visit her and buy things.

Al Fin
And at the end of the day this is my view of the clouds from my room. Que bellisima!

Hi Brenda & all, I am having a great time here, but like life in general it has it's down times, especially in my ability to hear and be understood in Spanish, but I'm still at it. If you have any new fotos of Harper...please text me at least one. You are truly the lucky one. :)

Jello Donzetta. I stumbled up on you Blog tonight, and I've found it very interesting. I especially like your photos. I'm retired and I lived in Southern California, and I'm a member of the AFROMEXICO and the Afro-Latinos Facebook pages. Thank you so much for your wonderful comments. I do plan to travel again to the coast to do volunteer work for E-Costa. Some of the Afro-Mexicans are involved with this organization. I plan to visit the afro-pueblos again and I will take a lot of fotos....for you!
