Being in the middle of one of those work phases, this trip is shorter than might otherwise be desired but it allows the wanderer to visit a long-held target (the Torres del Paine). Also hoping to visit the Perito Moreno glacier.
On the afternoon of February 20th, a long series of flights (LHR > MAD > SCL > PUQ) will find the wanderer in one of the southern-most airports of our planet - Punta Arenas (pretty close to the bottom of Chile) on the afternoon of February 21st. If all goes well, the wanderer finds a fellow wanderer (FD - last found in the Khumbu in December 2012) awaiting his arrival. The next day, the wanderers hope to find a long bus ride to Puerto Natales. An overnight pause and supply stop and then another bus ride to Laguna Amarga and the entrance to the Torres del Paine National Park. There begins an eight night hike around the back of the Torres and round to the busier W valleys.
On exit from the park, the wanderers hope to have found a bus to take them across the border to El Calafate. The waning wanderer will then have two days to visit the Perito Moreno and perhaps indulge in a trip on Lago Argentino. A long pair of bus rides will then bring him back to Punta Arenas on the night of the 5th in preparation for the first of another series of flights out on the 6th (PUQ > SCL > SAO > LHR).
Tired at the thought but can't wait to be under Chilean skies, the granite towers soaring above, the glistening glaciers below.

Torres del Paine
I am blogging Patagonia at the moment with unique adventures as we went in and out of Argentina and Chile in a 4WD. Gotta say Torres del Paine is the most beautiful place on Earth. if you have fine weather you will agree with me. Enjoy.
