This trip to Europe has really snuck up on us! We’ve only just come out of the Christmas summer holidays and with everyone returning to work and the normal daily routines, feels a bit strange getting things together to go away for a month now!
But, boy oh boy, are we excited! Especially me (Toni), who has never been to Europe. Or even London. Or, actually, never crossed the equator! And, to top it off, this will be the first (well, sort of*) trip to a '1st world' destination. That means that ‘normal’ clothes can be packed along with ‘normal’ accessories (such as hairdryers), and not just hiking, bundu bashing gear! Ahh, the small things in life ;-) The shock of walking through Buenos Aires (a very fashionable city I might add) with my Michelin man down jacket and humongous boat sized hiking boots, will forever be etched in my uncomfortable cringe file.
My suitcase is already too small and of course the arguments of luggage weight have already started.
That aside, we have a jam packed itinerary. From London we will head down to Paris for a few days, then onto Grenoble. From Grenoble we spend a week in Chamonix, sampling the ski slopes and excellent wintery activities, after which we then head to Switzerland for a few days. We then return to the UK and up to Manchester, for a Parkes family get together for Gran Parkes’ 85
th birthday, and then finally finish off in London. Phew.
We are very fortunate to be staying with family and friends for the majority of the trip, so besides seeing the English and French (with a bit of Switzerland) country side we will also be catching up with loved ones. This has also allowed us an extended trip of 4 weeks, which we are so so grateful for.
Let's get this show on the road!
*Does Australia count as 1
