Dear all, hope everyone is good and having a great summer.... I hear Big Brother is about to finish, who will win? Will it be Pete or will it be Glyn??? Who cares!!! Time for your next Travelblog Installment!!!
Ok so we flew from Rarotonga to Tahiti, unfortunatly our jobs do not make enough money for us to be able to stay in Tahiti, so two hours later we left, bound for LA Baby! LA was Fabulous, abosolutely mind blowing and what surprised us most was that it was exactly as you expected! Our first night i booked us into a fancy comfort inn hotel(!!!) for the first night. This was great, we ordered in Pizza (American sized)watched TV and had a great time, we just ignored the fact that we were staying in downtown LA and well you can imagine what downtown LA is like, so the next day we went to Venice Beach!
Venice beach is amazing, quite simply one of the greatest places on earth. Everyone at some point has seen Baywatch, well Venice Beach is where they film Baywatch, and it is exactly the same as on the show!!! I'm really serious, its amazing, we saw the red swimsuited clad lifeguards dive in and save sooo many people! fantastic! Also while there we done some bodyboarding which was great and met up again with our friends from Rarotonga Lea and Chris (Hi Lea hi Chris!!!). This resulted in a few more nights out in cheap sports bars! All with humongeous portions of food, truly gross amounts, but was soo good!!
We also did the obligatory Hollywood tour.... i loved it, im quite ashamed to say that i got rediculously excited at spotting the "stars" houses! We saw houses belonging to John Travolta, Leo Di Caprio, Cher, Joey from Friends, Jim Cary, J Lo and a hole bunch of others which i cant remember! But we also got to see where the Fresh Prince of Bel Air is filmed.... and also Rydell High!!! also in the tour we got to do the Hollywood walk of fame, seeing peoples stars, handprints etc, but the best thing about the hollywood walk of fame was undoubtly meeting Elvis!!! the Real Elvis though, not the fake Elvis that hangs around in Vegas. So we got our Photo taken with him as you all can see!
Venice Beach is a great place, we really enjoyed staying here, everything was on our doorstep. I was really happy to see lots of pictures of the Doors frontman Jim Morrison everywhere, this is where he basically grew up, then completly lost himself before he met his fateful end in a Paris Hotel. It was quite nice to hang out in the same area that he did 30 odd years ago. On our last day we hired rollerblades and went up and down the promanade on these, quite possibly the highlight of our trip to LA. Everyone on Venice travels by Rollerblade and its just such fun, and also made us feel like part of the Baywatch set again! (though admittedly slightly less elegant!)which is never a bad thing!
Also as you would expect we saw lots of film crews filming everywhere, thats what LA is afterall, just one big Film set, its a great place but i think that we hit it lucky and stayed in the right place at the right time and had a great time.
I hope that everyone is well at home, we will be back soon and are looking forward to catching up with everyone again!!!
Take care
Kyle and Nic

Lucky you
How I wish I could be where Jim Morrison was - teenage idol for me for sure - wish he was still around too - wonder if he would have worn as well as Elvis in your pic!! Glad you continue to have a great time - look forward to really catching up with all your news. Love Granny Saunders!
