Ok! I'm tired of driving, exhausted and missing a good cup of coffee. We feel like we've been traveling for weeks and it's only been 8 days..yesterday I just really wanted to hang but we really felt we had to go to Voss and Flam after all the hype we had read and heard. So after lying in the sun at 9 o'clock in the evening (i even got a little tan) we got onto the web to find out what there was to do. Jeff really really wanted to hike and luckily one of the first sites that we hit was Flam hiking.

So early in the morning we took the longer route out of Mo - that's what they call this place around here, for a 3 hour drive to Flam. I felt a little guilty that I wrote in yesterdays blog that this area wasn't as beautiful. If you are going through the back roads it's amazing .. the E16 is nice but not the same.

So we are driving - and we are getting to Voss. I am excited thinking we are going to hit some mountain city like Copper Mountain or even Vail... as we drive by in what I think was five minutes Jeff broke out into a huge laugh and said in yiddish "Voss is Dos?" - couldn't tell you as we quickly drove away from Voss on the route to Flam.

Now, I have to tell you a secret. One of Jeff's dream is to take a cruise. For the past few years I keep telling Jeff "what am I going to do on a cruise? - walk around the ship five times then Jump!? " I laugh and tell him that I will fly and meet him at every port but I don't see myself floating around beautiful country on a huge shopping mall.

Well as we entered FLam, which is this tiny city of 400 we see this monster ship docked in one of the most beautiful fjords. It looked like a whale sitting in a pond. On the one hand Jeff was so excited to see this work of art and yet finally said "I got it"

On our way to hike up the mountain overlooking the fjord we took a bus up the one lane - two way highway and hiked for three hours.

It was just incredible. The fjord from above, the vegetation, and just being out in nature.

On the way home it poured with rain and I was getting spooked being in the back woods, passing signs for directions in case of flash floods, no one to hear or see us as the rain came pouring down, the waterfalls started gushing and the clouds swooped in to cover it all...

Hi Brenda-on a cruise you could read all the books you wanted to read, learn bridge, play tennis, go to the gym/pool as much as you want, maybe even dine with the Captain, put on weight.. etc etc- all this without getting into the car....( not to mention go to interesting places) Do it for your 30th anniversary- in 2 years, no? Love to Jeff- I love the blog! And Mike also does- he says you could consider becoming a travel writer.....
