It's arrived. My last day of teaching in China.
Sure, I have final exams and paperwork, but I will never again stand in front of a class, chalk in hand, and hear the murmur of Chinese. I will never again find myself translating from their Chinese into English. I will never again hear the popular adage, "Good good study, day day up." (好好学习,天天向上。 It's a popular phrase meaning that good study makes us better each day. But in English it just sounds strange and meaningless.)
I have a lot of feelings right now. Some are excited, some are sad, and some are confused. I felt the same way when I left my teaching job in the US, too.
But mostly, I just keeping thinking, "Didn't I just get here?"
