Empire State of Mind

Boy have we walked today! Up and down 5^thAvenue, around Times Square and around the blocks, without much shopping to show for it because, well, we are backpackers not bankers. Our hosts suggested a market we should visit so we’re going to try that out on Saturday.

We did some laundry today which was a much better success than the first couple of attempts – everything came out the same size they went in…just about! Maybe we’re in denial that our waists have expanded instead of the elastic on our shorts shrinking.

We picked the perfect time to go up the Empire State Building (although there may never be a perfect time for Scotty who turned rather pale on the 86^th floor). The sun was setting so we saw the entire city in the day and then after the pink/red sky turned dark we saw it all at night which was amazing! The views were fantastic 😊 Annie the klutz may have dropped the camera out of her hand while dangling it through the bars to get a picture. LUCKILY it was strapped to her wrist but that didn’t stop the instant “shit yourself” moment before the strap took effect.

That was a pretty epic way to end our third day here 😊

When we got back we had a great chat with Alex and Laila and got to know them better, they had ANOTHER welcome pack for us in addition to the chocolates, snacks and pamper set which included wine, strawberries and yoghurts 😊 the wine was sooooo tasty and the perfect nightcap after our miles of walking!

Sun down
How romantic seeing the sun going down from the top of the Empire State Building ....the sun's going down on your trip now kiddies!....enjoy your last couple of days! Can't wait to see you!! Xcited now!!! xxx
