First of all, we think that Wales should invest in a subway system! It is so fast and reliable, a tad squished at times but at least you’re only squashed for a short time!

We didn’t get round to all we had planned today because the Statue of Liberty took up more time than we anticipated but it’s been a great day!

As we walked through Battery Park toward the ferry docks for the Statue of Liberty we saw this big copper sculpture which used to sit inside one of the twin towers. It was damaged and burnt from the 9/11 attack but was placed there as a “temporary memorial” to those who lost their lives; it was beautiful.

We got on the ferry across to Liberty Island which had great views of the city! It was crazy to learn that her finger nails are the length of a person’s forearm…she didn’t look THAT big from below.

The next stop was Ellis Island where we had the audio tour around the Immigration Museum which brought it all to life. We typed relatives’ names into the Immigrants manifest just for kicks, and Annie’s granddad came up, Evan Evans, and he was Welsh! (well with a name like that he’d have to be!)

We strolled up to Wall street after docking at New York (which was surprisingly quiet) and then grabbed a reliably cheap McDonald’s for tea. Don’t judge, we’re on a budget and eating healthy costs way too much! We did have strawberries for dessert though which made us feel better about ourselves and our waistlines!

Hope all is good on the other side of the pond!

New York Baby!!!!
Hi Annie, loving the latest pics - have to say you both look so well I think your budget diet plan might be the way forward. Apparently it's cheap and you get to look like you, I think that's a best seller in itself - but maybe it's just adventures and happiness suits you both so well. So jealous of your last couple of days, if I didn't have a new Miss Liberty of my own you might just of pushed me over the edge! (She sends loads of cwtches mind) Mam & Dad said congratulations on the PGCE place - and all of the Fockers are incredibly proud, what a summer you've had eh? Enjoy the last few days of your amazing adventures - but hurry home too, we've missed you loads. Fondest Love Auntie & Ike(ette

Hello little Miss Liberty!
Haha, Cath you are too kind to say that we are looking well after all of the junk we are eating! I'm looking forward to the affordable healthy food when I'm home! There's still time when Ikette's 21 and all graduated and career bound :) Aww thank you all! It was a huge shock because it was so late I thought they'd never ask me now! Me and Sarah can carry each other through "the toughest year of our lives" (according to the tutors who interviewed me...) I've missed you all too! It seems longer than 7 weeks and I'm ready to come home this week! So excited to meet the new Little Focker :) Bet you've bloomed into motherhood like a natural :) love you all loads! x x x
