I did not like using the floaties
We landed in Iceland and went to the Blue Lagoon. There was a geyser and some drinks. It was really fun. - Sofia Journal Entry

After many months of talking about our summer trip to Ice and Green as I liked to call them, it was finally time to travel. I had been so excited. I was also very happy that for a week of the trip, I would be travelling with a friend, Maddie, who is one of the daughters of Daddy's good friend from college, Lenny. We were going to meet up with them on our second day. This would be the 3rd time I had seen Maddie. Once in Hartford, Connecticut where they live, and then once in south Florida.

So, after a short layover in New York (not enough time to do sight seeing like we did last time on our stopover), we took an overnight flight to Reykavik. We landed and almost immediately got on a bus that took us to the Blue Lagoon. It was a great place to wake up. I brought my monster high doll "Laguna Blue" to the Blue Lagoon. It was nice and warm in the water and a little cold outside. I got to drink a blue slushy. It was really cool looking.

The only thing I did not like was that I had to wear the floaties because I was not 8 years old. Daddy promised he would say I was 8 years old at the next pool/hot spring we went to if it meant that I would not have to wear the floaties. Daddy had told me that swimming in heated pools and hot springs was a very popular thing to do in Iceland so we were going to do it many time. I was really happy about that.

We then got back on a bus that took us to our hostel "Downtown Reykjavic HI" Daddy and I were going to stay at a lot of hostels on this trip and I even got my own hostelling card. We always had our own room. It was a nice place in a perfect location by one of the main squares and near where Maddie was going to stay. We had a great fish and chip dinner and then I wanted to go on a boat and go fishing, but daddy was pretty tired and we decided to spend a little time in the square before going to bed early as the next day was a big one.

We met Maddie and Lenny the next morning. It was great to see her and have a friend for the first week. While the awesome tour we went on is in the next blog, we came back to Reykjavic at night and had a great time in the square playing and watching skate boarders while Daddy and Lenny drank some wine. It was so cool that the sun stayed up soooo long. I think I only saw "night time" once on the entire trip! Maddie and I loved that square.

What a great start to the trip!
