Today we had an early start as we had booked onto a cooking course at 8am with around 20 others. First we were given a tour of the local food markets for about 45 minutes, even at this early time it was boiling. Apparently the best time to go to the markets is in the morning as the produce is the freshest, the vegetables and fruit smelt great but walking along the freshly butchered/caught meat and fish stalls was not as pleasurable! After the market we had a 45 minute river cruise along the harbour ending at the Red Bridge Cooking School. Next we were given a tour of their herb garden and their uses. At about 10am we began cooking! Everyone had their own station which had the ingredients and a little stove. A chef talked us through each step and luckily his English was very good so we didn't make mistakes due to translation issues! He was also very witty which added to the enjoyable morning. First we made vegetable and shrimp spring rolls, then Vietnamese stlye shrimp pancakes, then an eggplant tagine/vegetable curry dish and finally we attempted some food decoration. This was our weakest area! Our attempts at cucumber hand fans started well until they snapped in half, Liv's tomato peel rose came out alright but Rose's fell on the floor... The food was delicious and we were able to eat them as soon as each dish was ready. Already so full, we were led into the main restaurant where we were given lunch!!

The class ended around 1.30 and we spent the early afternoon wandering around town looking at the markets. Around 4pm we came across a spa and for such a cheap price of a couple of dollars it would be rude not to accept two treatments in one! Our massage beds were next to eachother which enhanced the comical element of it! First we were given fully body massages followed by full body mineral mud wraps which exfoliated and softened our skin. Day well spent!

Afterwards we got ready for dinner and headed out to the harbour to eat. Following dinner we went back to our hotel and on the way saw some impressive lightening in the distance, thankfully the electrical storm hasn't reached this area yet. Tomorrow we head to our final Vietnam destination, Ho Chi Minh City so it's time to pack our bags...
