First week of classes is done and we were asked by our program advisor to go get lost in the city. She said that we had been getting lost too much so she gave us locations in small groups to find using the busses. We found our location no problem, but when we had to meet at the restaurant that was to be our final destination we literally had no idea how to get there. We were supposed to meet at Tex Mex and there are apparently two in the same area. So I asked at least 8 different people in Chinese how to get there and we walked for miles and miles and miles trying to find it. After about an hour and a half of walking back and forth a woman took pity on us and helped us find the restaurant. She was super nice and spoke no english so we tried to converse with her in the most broken Chinese possible. I have no idea how she figured out where to take us but it was hysterical. If we got there by a certain time we could've gotten free cake...we were about an hour too late...

We also saw a chicken on a leash outside of a shop and have no idea why. It's there every day outside of our classes. Among other weird random facts, there is a strange kind of Chinese alcohol we had the pleasure of trying the other night. It was probably the worst thing I have tasted so far, it was essentially black licorice flavored, more bitter than cheap vodka. Apparently it's really popular in China, it's called Baijiu. Not a single one of my friends were able to have more than a sip.

Today we went to the panda reserve! I didn't hold one unfortunately because it was $200 american money for 30 seconds ...so yeah right. The pandas were ADORABLE probably the floppiest laziest creatures I've ever seen. There was also a wild peacock traversing around the reserve.

We also went to a touristy street today and a woman ran up to me and in Chinese asked to take a picture of me with her four year old son, so about 6 Chinese adults randomly had me pose with their four year old child to take pictures of the white blonde girl in China.
