Eiffel Tower at Night
It was pretty. The thing I loved most about Paris was the Eiffel Tower. It was very tall. It was sparkling at night. We went up to the tippy top. - Sofia

When daddy was planning this trip he found out that we could not make it back from Romania to the USA in one day and we would have to spend the night in another European city. His choices were Madrid, London, and Paris, and he felt that even though had been to France before (Nice last year) that Paris would be the best layover for less than 18 hours since it had the EIFFEL TOWER. I have see that in so many books, cartoons, and pictures, so I already knew about it and was very exicted.

So early afternoon after a change of planes in London we arrived in Paris. I was so excited to say Bonjour and some other french words I had learned before. We took a taxi straight to our hostel, Le Regent. It was located in Montmatre which was Daddy's favorite area of Paris as he had been there twice before. We arrived before check-in, so we left our bags (only had our carry ons as Daddy checked our big bags all the way to Miami) and we hit the metro to go to the Eiffel Tower. This hostel was not as nice as any of the hostels we stayed in in Romania ( and 3-4 times the price) but was a great location and friendly people worked there.

So a few blocks from the metro station I saw it....It was soooo cool to see it in real life. I was excited to go up it, but I was starving so we first had a snack and took some pictures.

When we arrived there was a HUGE line but we knew we were here to to up it so we waited on line. It took over an hour but I had my ipod to play with and there was some nice people in line with us, including an American family living in Switzerland with a boy about my brothers age. I let him play my video game as well...He already knew how to play temple run and showed me some cool things. It rained a litle but not much and though the weather was not nice, we never needed an umbrella.

When we finally got our tickets and went up it was awesome. We took the elevator to the second level which was a lot of fun. It was really neat. The views were awesome. It was cold. After making it around once, we then took the elevator to the "tippy top". It was amazing to look out and watch us go so high. We got to the top and then went outside. It was so cold and windy we only lasted about10 minutes and went back inside to look around. We then went back to the second level, I bought my teacher, Dr. Telfort, as small Eiffel Tower. There was a long line to take the elevator down so I told daddy we should walk down and I am glad we did because it was much faster and a lot of fun.

We then took a taxi to our hotel, checked in, took a fast shower and then went up to the Basilica Sacre Coeur. Daddy had told me about getting my picture painted by an artist, but it was too late....Next time. We checked out the Basilica and then I was amazed to see the Eiffel Tower sparkle....that was one of my highlights of Paris.

We then found a small restaurant, ate dinner and had AWESOME dessert before heading back to our hotel. We had a very early flight back to Miami the next morning. While it was less than 18 hours in Paris, it was a lot of fun and I was so glad to see the Eiffel Tower.

It was the end of this trip, but already the next one is planned.....2 1/2 weeks in Iceland and Greenland in August. Daddy says it will be a lot of cool things to see and do and he is already getting me excited about it. Who knows, maybe there will be a quick trip before that one.....

Hello Mike and Sofia
You've got some great shots here and what a great place to hover for a day. Sorry to hear the hostel wasn't as nice as Romania. Hope to meet you soon. Happy travels.
