We left Koh Samui early Saturday morning. The whole journey to Patong was a disaster!!! Firstly, the pick up from our resort in Koh Samui was 45 mins late, though this seems like nothing in retrospect compared to the rest of the day. We got on a mini bus which we could was taking us to the pier to get the ferry, but instead it took us to a coach. We got on the coach and it turned out the coach actually went on the ferry as it was a much bigger one than previous. But the Thai do not communicate very well so we had no idea what was actually hapening! The ferry ride itself was actually pleasant enough and I managed to sleep most of the journey. The ferry docked in a place called Donsak, where we got on the bus for a while longer before next thing we knew we were kicked of at the side of the rode and told to go with a woman in the back of her jeep. This woman was also poor at communicating what the hell was going on and took us to some cafe/travel agents where we took the opportunity to have a quick bite to eat before some other two guys picked us up in a "taxi" (nothing like any taxi in the UK!!) You sit on a bench in the back of a truck and it one hell of a bumpy ride. The guys didn't seem too concerned on getting as anywhere in a hurry and were picking up and dropping off some school kids along the way. They then stopped and told us to get off...god knows where, and here they tried to tell us we had to pay extra to go to Patong where are accommodation is booked. We tried to argue this saying all transport should already be included as this is what the guy in Bangkok who we booked with told us. But to no evail and them sticking us on the phone to their boss several times they still insisted on 250B for a transfer from Phuket city centre to Patong beach. We refused to pay this and told them jusy to take us to the coach which would take us to Phuket. By the time they did this it was 2.45 and our bus left at 2! The jackasses caused us to miss our bus and there was not another one till 5! We were told we could pay extra to got at 3 or 4 on a minbus but it turned out the 3 o clock one was fully booked so there didn't seem much point in paying to save one hour. The guys here were absolute jerks so we found somewhere else to wait for the bus in the form of an Italian cafe just down the road, with delicious pizza and free wii-fii 😊

We went back for our coach for 5 o clock and again no coach turned up. After enquiry at 5.20 we were told that the bus was already here and it was a mini bus and we were waiting for other people! Now after being told we could pay extra for a minibus or wait for the coach at 5 to see a mini bus at 5 I knew we were truly beinh messed about. They insisted on waiting for these other passengers too, and noboby had waiting for us as we missed our original bus, so this was very infuriating. We were also coned out of an extra 300B to take us to Patong! Yes they increased the price after our initial refusal! :@

When we finally got on the minibus it was like a sauna and had the worlds lamest air con! The other guys on the bus, a group of Australian guys from Melbourne did help make the journey more bareable. They were very funy to listen to and had Anwen and me in stitches! 2 hours into the the journey we stopped for a rest break, here a German guy on our bus claimed he had had 4000B stolen from, the guy had left his money belt on the bus afterall, bus nice to know I was travelling with thieves! The prime suspect being the driver!!! We finally arrived in Patong not long before midnight. We are staying in a guesthouse here which is very nice! It is the best room we have had so far by far! It has air con, a fridge, massive bed and even a wardrobe and shower curtain!!!! The last two being things we learnt early on to not even expect anymore.

Slept pretty well tonight in the big bed that exactly has a sheet on the bed unlike some previous accommodation. We got up and went to the beach, the sand here is so much nicer! It is very soft and not pebbly like all the other beaches we have been on. I had banana pancakes at a lovely and very cheap little place, they were amazing and a real banana milkshake made from fresh bananas! :D mmmm!!! We went up to the shopping centre later in the afternoon, there is so much there I wish I had money to spare! On the way here we saw a whole different area with bars which I can only describe as "adult" with a lot of pole and glitter. It was quiet there now but I suspect it will be a whole different scene tonigth! We may go back there later to see the sights. No doubt it will be entertaining to say the least!

It is a shame we have ended up with not much time in Patong, there looks like there is a lot to see and I would like to stay in this room for longer, but tomorrow we move on to Koh Phi Phi - an island said to have the best beaches in Thailand!!
