Holy crap we slept in until 2:30pm! After we finally dragged ourselves up, we went to the upper pool and talked to a couple from Melbourne who was on a five week holiday – I’m jealous again! After a bit we went down to the beach and bought two floats to use in the ocean. We sat on the end of the beach right near the hotel, the water was calm and the water’s edge was nice and sandy as far out as you could walk.

Steve and I took a walk all the way down the street to the Far Out Club and on the way saw a really cool restaurant covered with camouflage netting. It had hammocks and couches to sit on and raised platform tents. We decided we should go back there for pizza later. We walked back along the water’s edge and the sand was more pebbly at this end so it was a bit harder to walk plus it took the skin off my toes. We did some more sunbathing, swimming and floating then went back down to the camouflaged restaurant which was called Karma for some pizza.

We had our obligatory pre-going out

nap. We Called ‘Uncle Kostas’ our favorite taxi driver and headed into the Chora around midnight. First we went to the Orange Bar. Panos was still behind the bar. The bar looked pretty much the same as when we were there in 2007, except the bulletin board where we stuck the DBD sticker was gone. The place was empty when we got there but filled up within 20 minutes. We decided to move on when it became impossible to get near the bar to get a drink.

Next was the Red Bull Bar and the same thing happened here, it was empty when we got there and it filled up within a few minutes of our arrival. So that became the joke of the evening ‘we draw the crowds in!’ Steve likes the Red Bull Bar, well because he likes Red Bull! They also run 2 for 1 drink specials so you typically get 2 drinks for 5€s from the limited drink list. We then headed on to the Blue Note where it was already packed when we got there. This was the bar I remember as being run by Australians when we went there in 2007. This creepy

Italian guy Marco approached Rachel and his opening line to her was “I think you are 32”. We all danced for a bit and then Rachel asked me to make up a hotel name that we were staying at. I took that as a hint that we should move along to another bar to get rid of Marco.

We walked up to the Slammer Bar and it was also really packed. On the way in we saw George the beverage manager from our hotel (he was really handsome and nice too!!) coming out of the Slammer Bar. It turns out his son was visiting him and they were out on the town for the night too. This is the bar that has a shot where you put on a helmet and they hit you on the head with a hammer when you drink the shot. Rachel started taking to an Irish guy named Pory which he said was short for Patrick. Huh? We stayed and danced for a while, but it was sooooo crowded we all (including Pory) decided to move on to the Mojito Bar in the plateia across from the Red Bull Bar.

So somehow Pory ended up having a drinking contest at the Mojito Bar with this Australian guy. I was in the W.C. but Steve and Rachel said they both just poured, without actually swallowing, the entire 12oz beer down their throats in seconds. Pory didn’t even seem all that buzzed and Steve was convinced that he went to the W.C. and purged it. Pory lost the contest so he went and found his buddy who is a champion beer drinker back in Ireland. The Australian guy won again. Crazy guys!!

We finished the night at the Shamrock Bar which was pretty busy and the bartender here poured lighter fluid or something flammable on the bar top and lit it on fire, almost like the chefs do at Japanese restaurants except the Japanese chefs do it on the metal grill not the wooden bar top! Wild!! They also had a bunch of paid girls dancing up on a balcony go-go style and one of them came down and lay on the bar so a guy could do a shot off her. Pretty much the bartender pulled her shirt up so we could all see her boobs then poured ice down her crotch and the alcohol into her belly button so that it ran down her underwear onto the ice while the guy stuck a straw down there to drink the alcohol. Of course all the guys in the bar enjoyed looked at her boobies even though she was a little chubby. More dancing ensued after this and finally we called Kostas to pick us up at the Scorpion Club again and it was a fairly early night as we were home by 5am.
