Train ride to KaiserslauternTrain ride to KaiserslauternTrain ride to Kaiserslautern

Oops no reservations!
AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE!!!! OI OI OI!!!!

What an experience!!!!

We woke up early, dressed in our green and gold, carried our flags and made our way to to the train station. There weren't many at the station nearest to us, but as soon as we got to the main station we were surrounded by both Aussies and Japanese! What a buzz!

We were lucky to get a German info guy to help us buy tickets to Kaiserslautern. Ended up costing 54 Euro to get to Kaiserslautern from Frankfurt. That cost more than our tickets (45 Euros)!!!

We grabbed some brekkie from Maccas and then ran onto the train to K-town. WOAH! All the Japanese fans had seats and the Aussies didn't! Guess they had planned ahead and made their reservations months ago! Some Aussies (like me) ended up sitting on the floor, some Aussies stood up the whole way for 2hrs (like Todd), and others stole some of the Japanese seats! Haha! Until they arrived and kicked them off.

We arrived at the stadium pretty early. Well about 1.5hrs before the game. Security check first, then ticket check. They didn't even check my passport! Inside food/merchandise/toilet

lines were a couple minutes wait. Todd and I got a Bratwurst and drinks for lunch then found our seats.

4th row!!!! 4th row to the right of the goal. What a view! Music pumped through the speakers and video showed on all the screens. All the Aussies sang along to the music ... "I come from the land downunder", "You're the voice", etc etc. The fans sang the anthem, Waltzing Matilda and various other chants.

Kick-off....the crowd was roaring! My voice is nearly gone! Todd's too! Everyone really! It was non-stop chanting, screaming at the ref, and cheering for the boys! There was a definite silence when the Japanese scored. The Aussie crowd was silent for a good amount of time. Until of course our goals came! It was like a miracle! And then another, and another!!! We didn't even get to sit down and then we had scored again, and AGAIN! Streamers were thrown, beach balls bounced around, flags flown and beer spilt everywhere! It was like a huge party! Everyone was just hugging everyone! People were climbing the nets and standing on their seats!

The game ended and the players came over and gave

We come from the land downunder!
their thanks to us! We were all still jumping around in our seats! I think we stayed there for about 20 mins just jumping and screaming with the others!

We had to make our train back to Frankfurt so Todd and I left the stadium. Thousands of Aussies were making their way back too. They were singing and screaming all the way there. It was HOT! 38 degrees! We saw Ray Martin, and so did a whole bunch of other fans. He got mobbed! They all wanted a photo with him. Camera crews were everywhere and Aussies were jumping in front of them. We were all so happy!

The train ride home was long, hot and tiring. We caught about 4 different connections to get back. We were so thankful to walk through the hotel doors after a big day out. I had a nice hot shower, put my feet up and enjoyed some tea.

Late dinner... kebabs from the down the road. You can always count on a kebab place being open late no matter what country you're in.

Tomorrow we're spending most the day in Frankfurt then flying to Prague at night. Looking forward
