Sunrise!
Native Guatemalan heading to town on his canoe with some produce. What a gorgeous morning! We woke to a rooster around 6am, which was just in time to catch the sunrise. Amy and I spent an hour or so on the dock checking out the surroundings. The water in the lake is pretty clear, far better than I expected - probably can see a depth of about 10 feet. The water is warm - especially compared to Lake Superior! This morning we cooked breakfast, and went to town. On the way we met a native Indian (India) who lived in Chicago as an architect for several years and has since moved to the area - he invited us for coffee. We told him we would join him on the way back if it was okay with him - he agreed and we continued on. In town we mingled with the locals and bought some liquados (smoothies). We picked up a few essentials like toilet paper, matches for starting the stove, and rum. I should note that due to the election selling alcohol is illegal the past few days, but we have somehow found a way around that :-) Heading back to Pasaj Cap we met with Raj and had a wonderful time.
Good morning Lake Atitlan!
Amy and I chilling at the end of the dock just after sunrise. His convesation was very enjoyable and we shared some coffee that he had grown, harvested, and roasted. We came back to Pasaj Cap and made some quesadillas and guacamole with some local supplies - meanwhile we enjoyed some rum. Sitting in the hammock with the views of the lake and volcano never gets old! This evening Cole, Amy, Dad, and I ran into town to replenish our rum supply. We picked up four bottles as the first two went relatively fast. 12 year old rum from Guatemala has proven to be very delicious! Tonight brings rain, but still looking over the lake is mesmerizing. On our walk back from town we met with a local guatemalan textile senorita. We purchased some wonderful textiles. Amy and I purchased a table runner. Dad purchased two throws. Cole purchased some textiles for the the wall. All were gorgeous and worth ever penny we paid. The town is small and at the same location we can get breakfast for about $3 per person...we'll see if that is where we end up tomorrow morning.

I USED TO LIVE IN PANA. I RECOMEND TO U, TO VISIT HOTEL ATITLAN, SEE THE GARDENS IN IT; AND VISIT PARK SAN BUENAVENTURA, HIKE UP TO THE WATERFALL, HIKE TO SAN ANDRES ON THE OTHER SIDE OF TOWN IS A NICE EXPERIENCE, I THINK THE BEST MIRADOR IS THERE.
