First two days in Rio

Arrived yesterday - very early! Met a couple of girls from Leeds who we got a taxi to our hostel with as our pick up didn´t show up! Dropped our bags, went for a quick walk around and sat on Copacabana beach for a while before coming back to properly check in. Went back to the beach to meet the girls for a couple of hours, then headed up Sugar Loaf mountain, where we enjoyed our first Brazilian drink. Amazing views over all of Rio. Planned to go out but ended up over-napping and feeling quite dead from the early start, so chilled out at the hostel and had an early night. Went for a lovely long walk around a lagoon en route to the botanical gardens this morning, then headed back to the beach for a couple of hours this afternoon. Starting to get our bearings. Dinner at the hostel this evening, then off out for a few drinks. About to plan the next few days according to reports we´ve heard off a few others. xxx

So far, so good then
Hope flight was a good one - you were through the queue by the time we'd had coffee. Shame about the lack of pick-up but glad you had company in the taxi. Wondering if you've made any other arrangements with those girls, but sounds like you're building a bit of a network anyway. Sugar Loaf Mountain? Botanica gardens? Long walk? Sounds like us in Wales! We just got back from our lovely couple of days camping - great weather. Wondering what plans you've made next? Mum x
