Edit Blog Post

After I got back from the BIG TRIP in April- I did think I would use the blog for my other occasional travels but I never really got round to it at the time. Well I have been to Sweden at Easter and then to Normandy with Christine ( my sis-in-law) at the beginning of June - so will post some of those fotos in another blog to catch up. I have also had my home exchage family from Christchurch New Zealand to stay - so it has been a lovely busy time.A
Anyway my lovely cousin Marllyn (who lives in Spain - more trips there for me coming up) is always full of bright ideas which usually involve Terry in some extra DIY work around the house..but this time her idea was for me to blog about the wedding and put the fotos on here so that all my friends in far away places could see our celebrations.
Chris ( my son) and Anabel have been together 15 years now and celebrated their love by marrying on June 25th. It was quite an international event as Anabel is Spanish so some of her family and friends came from Galicia and Mallorca to join the celebrations and we also had my son Richard and his girlfriend Catherine from Sweden, my daughter , Suzanne, and my family from the North of England , Marilyn and Terry from Spain and some other friends who were Polish and Irish, Scottish and Turkish.
They were married in the Town Hall at Eastbourne- and I found the Civil Ceremony very moving and thoughtful. Richard was best man and my two boys looked so handsome and I was so proud of them. Anabel looked so gorgeous - her brother Julio "gave her way". Anabel came up the stairs and entered to the music of the Pachobel Canon ( same music that Michael and I had) and Richard read two extracts about love and marriage... one by Khalil Gibran ( another coincidence that we had that reading too!!). Exchanging rings and vows and signing of the register was done in front of us about 40 guests...and then it was photos in the magnificent hallway, throwing confetti and then all we had to do was walk across the road as the reception was at a bistro/pub , Bibendum, across from the town hall.
Suz and Catherine and I had a lovely time decorating the room with flowers and petals and ballons and it looked really great... Catherine even went to the extremes of polishing the mirrors in the room!!!
We all started off with a welcome drink of Pimms and then to the main room for the wedding dinner - the food was fabulous - evryone commented on how good it was and I think you will see that from the fotos. Smoked Duck with pomegranate as a starter, then breast of chicken stuffed with ricotta wrapped in parma ham and to finish Bayleys bread and butter pud. Wine and champagne flowed and Richard made a very good speech not embarassing Chris too much. The it was time to cut the cake and adjurn to the bars to let the staff get the room ready for the dancing and evening buffet. Jane and I had made some extra food to supplement the buffet so there was more feasting in the evening and thanks to Chris' great playlist ( he arranged the music himself) we all had a great time on the dance floor.
At midnight we brought all the leftovers home and the wedding cake and after afew hours sleep we were up and getting ready for the next stage of celebrations - my birthday and Catherine's.
We had an all day party with people coming and going and food being piled onto the table and being eaten and then replaced with more food.
I was so happy all weekend - we all had such a wonderful time.
Chris and Anabel went off to Venice for the week to stay in my friend Lucina's apartment. It wa slovely for me that Richard and Catherine and Suzanne stayed on and with wonderful weather we enjoyed some of the joys of the Sussex countryside including a couple of village pubs of course. ( I will put those fotos on another blog to follow).
So now I am home with all my visitors gone- I had 8 people staying here and at one lunch time 15 !! and I enjoyed every minute of it.
I hope you wi
