Hello all! We have had a manic few days in Kuala Lumpur and then Singapore, it has been mad to be around so many people and definately a bit of a shock to the system! We arrived in KL after a crazy night train, 16hours from Thailand in a bizzare sleeper, was kind of like the bunks in a mental asylam but definately a step up from the dirty night ferry. We stayed in a very trendy hostel and it was nice to get chatting to some other people. We spent the days seeing the sights...lots and lots of walking...to see the Petronas twin towers which contain a huge shopping mall. Actually KL is full of shopping malls, loads of stories high, one even had a theme park in it! We also took time to explore the huge parks and then stumbled upon China Town. This element was quite like Bangkok with lots of 'real' Gucci goods! Note Kyle's sunglasses! Mine are obviously real Christian Dior...or was that Pior? Definately quality goods! While here we saw the Da Vinci Code at the flicks, the best bit being the sweets and the James Bond trailer! Film was so bad it was entertaining and it was nice to rest our feet after the hours of treking round the city!

8 hours later on the train and we found ourselves in the terribly efficient and clean Singapore! All was looking good until we arrived at our beatufully clean and air conditioned hotel, which in itself was lovely, oh except for the collection of 'ladies of the night ' which were gathered directly opposite our hotel. It was quite a sight! The hotel opposite was charging for rooms by the hour...obviously for those in transit...right?! Well needless to say i felt totally under or maybe overdressed in comparison! However, this did not effect our stay, Singapore had lots to explore. We spent our first day taking a tour of the city, wandering round the great shopping malls on Orchard Rd, enjoying the food and smells of Little India and China Town. We also took a bus over to the island of Senosa to see Singapore from a distance and a giant much revered lion/mermaid thingy a 'merlion' which seemed to make an apperance on most Singapore postcards. Everyone seemed to be loving it! Perhaps we missed something! We are ashamed to say due to

Dig the glasses! Real Dior! And Straight Hair!!
budget restrictions and the somewhat offputting hawker stalls specialising in the likes of 'live claypot frog' and the ever popular 'frog porridge' we ended up eating quite a lot in Mcdonalds! (bloody good Big Mac however!)

Our second day in Singapore we spent at the zoo. It was definately an experience with all sorts of different animals. This zoo was supposedly 'humane' however, I think there were times where we both felt uncomfortable with the conditions in which animals were contained. Kyle was however, most delighted by the baboons (actually he was like one of my 5year olds) and spent a great amount of time laughing at their bright pink bums and willies!!ha ha Im 27 and willies still make me laugh!See photo for details! was good to see animals we wouldn't have usually seen. We were quite dubious to see the kind of animals that are commonly found in the mangrove swamps...oops that was last week! Animals like snakes, crocodiles and freaky looking monkeys..think I may have been a bit more apprehensive in my canoe had I have known!

Singapore airport is fantastic! Seriously think the credit card may take some abuse when we fly through next time! We had a great flight from it, and now have arrived in a rather beautiful Bali...blue skies...palm trees...thirty two degrees...beautiful swimming pool with swim up bar and a free breakfast! What more could you ask for? We are both definately ready to put our feet up after hitting the cities. Hope you are all well (and enjoying half term all you Suffield friends) lots of love Nic and Kyle x x

Hey!!
It's so funny to see Petaling Street in Chinatown - I stayed just around the corner! and wow, that's a great shot you got of the Petronas towers - I was too lazy to go to a good vantage point! I did the cinema thing too - but I saw 'over the hedge' which was very amusing and I got to eat popcorn, hurah!! Keep enjoying and hopefully catch you somewhere en route! xx
