The Malvern B & B
Hi all, The blog has not allowed me to add entries recently - but appears to be working now. Plus steve and I have not been too well, we must have picked up a Scottish flu.
Today we left Inverness to head for Edinburgh.
It was a very wet start to the day. First stop was Nairn to get some fuel.
We then called in at Kinloss Airforce base to see where Jan used to work. We were surprised to see a man wielding a large machine gun at the gate! We spoke very politely to him and asked him if he would mind if we took a photo of the sign at the front entry. (Just for you Jan!!)
We then drove to Elgin and out to the coastal town of Lossiemouth. A very nice Town and Harbour. We stopped here and had a lovely hot chocolate at a small cafe on the dock. It was pouring and quite windy while we were here.
We drove on passed the Bells Distillery and on to Banff. Banff was a beautiful place but we found it hard to buy some lunch because, being Sunday, all the shops were shut. We were a

bit cheeky and went down to an exclusive, members only, golf club and one of the very lovely Scottish men felt sorry for us and signed us in. We enjoyed a big bowl of hot soup here, just what we needed on a wet cold day. We had a lovely chat to the locals and enjoyed our time at the Golf Club.
We then headed south toward Aberdeen, The scenery along this road was lovely. Lots of green padocks and other's that were bright yellow, planted out with yellow oil seed rape. We also saw quite a few Shetland ponies along this road.
We bypassed Aberdeen and continued South to Dundee -this was quite a long day and a long drive. At Dundee we stopped at a cafe to use the internet to find accommodation in Edinburgh ( it is a little tricky when you do not know where the Hotels are situated, you just have to book and hope it will all be okay). We lucked out and our Hotel was very reasonably priced and very close to the centre of Town. The catch was that it was 80 steep stairs to our room and NO Lift!!
However, the

room was lovely and if you looked closely, between the decorative pillars, you could see the city and the ocean in the distance.
Steve and I grabbed a quick tea and went to bed. We were not too well tonight.
