By the fourth day on Kadidiri I had unpacked my backpack, fell into the routine of island life and completely lost all track of time and dates.

Whilst on Kadidiri I found myself reunited with an old friend, the sea. Never one to stray too far from the ocean in my life, I have relished the time here to be up close and personal with the shores on the Island. I am reminded of a time as a child when I would spend the entire school holidays without shoes and be permanently salty and very tan from life by the sea. My time here on Kadidiri has made me realise just how privileged I have been in my life to have always had the ocean so close to me. I have relished yet again, days without shoes with salty hair & sandy feet.

A short trip to Palau Tapai for some snorkeling proved to be more than I expected. Just meters off the shore is a drop off that plunders about 10 to 15 meters down. The coral cliffs proved as abundant as the fish that dwelled in its beauty. You could lose yourself for hours around this tiny Island as the coral was in a much better condition than on Kadidiri. Paradise Resort has bungalows on Palau Tapai however they are only open in peak season (June, July & August) at this stage. I was lucky enough to see a reef shark whilst I was snorkeling around Tapai, as the shark is normally quite shy they tend to disappear very quickly once spotted. I would actually like to think I was very calm about seeing a shark however I did make a swift paddle to the shore just to make sure there was no bigger shark lurking about. (which there wasn’t)
After 9 nights on Palau Kadidiri I decided to visit Palau Bolilanga, a tiny Island that received a big wrap from a fellow traveller.

Palau Bolilanga had the most incredible white sand and crystal clear waters I had seen in the Togians. The island itself was run by a brother & sister so its small and personal. You can snorkel entirely around the island several times in one go. Cabins are so close to the water that it is almost at your door step. The gentle lapping of the water lulls you to sleep. Bolilanga was one of those places that I really wished I was sharing with someone. NEXT TIME. I will be back.

FYI. I payed $15.00 per night for my own cabin. This included three meals.
