We drove around Nelson bay to find the big sand dunes. We found them but you have to walk a long ways down the beach to get close to them so we didn’t go out to them. We did drive to another spot and ended up getting closer to the dunes. Pretty cool.

We drove out of Nelson bay towards Newcastle. I wanted to stop in Newcastle to see it as my cousin Curtis lived there for a bit when he came over to Australia back in the day. We didn’t have a map of the area but just my guidebook to go off to tell us where the info center was. Well the 3 of us walked around looking for this stupid info center getting more and more frustrated, asking people if they knew. Finally found it, it had just moved to it’s new location. Had a chat there and found out the best way to get into Sydney and to get to our hotel.

Took a couple pictures in Newcastle for Curtis to see we made it there and then hit the road. We arrived into Sydney and dad was not having so much fun driving in such a busy city. But mom and I had good navigation skills that we got to our street but couldn’t find the place and of course no parking so we had to drive around the block but with all the one way streets it was a nightmare. Finally got back, found the place and I stood with the car in the loading zone and got all of our stuff out of the car and into the hotel. The 3 of us decided it was best for us to return the car right away as there was no where to park it cheaply. Luckily for us, the rental place wasn’t far from where we were staying so we dropped the car off and walked back.

We picked up a few groceries so we could cook dinner and then got back to the hotel. We have a rooftop area we can sit on. So we had a glass of wine up there and realized we could see the Opera house from our rooftop. Really cool! We decided to go for a walk around the area after dinner. Kings Cross is the seediest area of Sydney. There are tons of strip clubs and gentlemen’s clubs all up and down the street. We saw quite a few interesting characters around the area.
