Sunday, March 27: Travel from Madrid to Barcelona. We stop and tour the city of Zaragoza on the way!

Travel day from Madrid to Barcelona through Zaragoza, Spain

The day was long. Our bus ride from Madrid to Zargoza was approximately 4 hours.

However, upon arriving at Zaragoza, we visited the Basilica of the Pilar. As the story goes, thVirgin Mary appeared at a pilar in the square of this town during the Middle Ages. The Basilica was built around the pilar. Many pilgrims visit the site to kiss the pilar.

The bus ride from Zaragoza to the seaside town of Calella, where our hotel was located, was another 4 hours. Of course after dinner, the kids couldn't resist walking down to the beach to put their feet into the Meditteraean Sea!

Looking good!
Jen and all, Looks like everyone is having a great time. When I was in Spain, we spent a lot of time in Barcelona and had some of the best food I've ever had to date - and that was in 1969! The paella was wonderful, full of seafood and we had snails that still make my mouth water when I think of them - we sucked them right out of the shells. The best advise we received when traveling is if you're hungry ask a cop where to go eat. They know the best places and the prices are right. Enjoy your trip and be safe! Diane
