Now for those who read the previous blog on Uluru I have some updates. It was pointed out to me that I had missed some very important information and that I should insert them at the begining of this entry.

Now whilst we were at the rock and appeared to be suffering at the hands of the weather, we did in fact get sight of our first and only wild kangaroo, that is to say not behind a wire cage. Added to this we also seen a group of wild camels passing through the park. How I could of omitted this I do not know. In addition I also forgot to mention the drinks party as the sun set which was very enjoyable with ample supplies of wine and hor deuves. (thats french for snacks)

Onward! - Now we arrived in Sydney dumped our bags having used the very efficient train service to the city centre.
Off we set to eat and visit the sights. It is truely a great city with my favourite place so far being Cockle Bay Wharf. This is a place that bustles with restaurants and hoards of people out strolling and enjoying the night time.

The following day we set off early across the bay for Manly on the ferry from the terminal near the Opera house. Here we enjoyed the brilliant sunshine and watched the people surfing across the beautiful sandy bay. The journey there and back is really great taking in most of the famous sights as you leave and re enter the harbour. From here we again walked through the botanic gardens, something we had done on our previous visit and enjoyed so much. The exotic birds and massive fruit bats are so very different to what we are used to and therefore such a pleasure to see along with the other sights, sounds and smells.

Suitably worn out it was time for a nap for poor old John before returning to Cockle Bay Wharf and one of the restaurants. Not yet having worn me out Shirley decided we should set off to China Town and to visit the Friday night market. The ususal hustle bustle of oriental eating houses and stalls well worth the visit.

We have adjusted our plans and intend to spend some more time in Sydney before returning. However the next day we picked up yet another car and set off up the Pacific Highway. Shirley will update you on this later.
