Well Hello There!!

This is the first entry of my first travel blog- how exciting! Well, it would be if I weren't so exhausted. I really just wanted to try and get on here to quickly jot down how my day went.

I slept straight through the flight from Denver to San Franciso- no problem. It was a good thing I had a 5 hour layover in San Fran- that airport is pretty big. I found out that they have two international terminals, so I wandered around a little, then found a spot to park in the Int'l Terminal for awhile, then decided to try and find my gate, and THEN found out that there were two. No biggie- still had plenty of time. But I slept a lot and watched a lot of movies on my flight mostly, interspersed with music and flipping through my Korean language books. The plane chased the sun around the world so all but the last hour of my 12.5 hour flight was in the daylight- which was a crazy concept to me. It wasn't until about 5 hours into the fight that I finally understood what the large white translucent shape covering half the world on that little TV - map that shows you the route. It was the sun! And in the 10th hour, I was shocked to wake up and open the window shade to see the coast of Japan. The sunlight was finally starting to fade away, all of the land was covered in snow- mountain terrain bumping right up against the coast, and the ocean water was pitch black. It was an extremely beautiful sight.

Everything else went really smooth- no luggage lost, (Sidenote: big thanks to Daniel yesterday morning for helping me frantically rearrange my baggage so that both bags were under, or at least almost under, the 50lb weight limit) immigration, currency exchange, the hour long bus ride to Gangnam, meeting up with Kevin, and finally finding myself in an apartment ready for bed 😊 From what I could tell of the ride around the area where I'm living- it's very nice. There's a really large shopping center called COEX that's about a five minute drive away, it looks huge...and ritzy. 😊 Haha, as I was flipping through a COEX magazine thing on the bus I saw an ad for an On the Border Mexican Cantina that I'm assuming is somewhere in there...so thats funny. Not that I ever really eat Mexican food when I'm
home.

I'm staying in an apartment with two other teachers temporarily, they will both be leaving at the end of the month, but I hear I'm actually moving into a different apartment with another girl. Either way this is fine, I'm happy I have a bed and a private room to sleep in! I sat and talked with one of the girls for at least an hour after I got here, she is super nice and answered tons of my questions which I will probably fill in the details of tomorrow. But I'm feeling pretty good overall- no overwhelming feelings of extreme anxiety, so I am grateful for that

Alright- must sleep. More tomorrow! With pictures hopefully!
