OXFORD - WHITE CHRISTMAS

Happy New Year!

It hardly ever snows in Oxford but this Christmas was an exception. I made it into Heathrow on one of the last flights, took the bus to Oxford while it was still cold but clear and woke up to what you can see in this picture. Unheard of!

I was so amazed that I did what I've never done before in what is one of my home towns: take my camera and walk around and take pictures. Oxford in the snow is both unusual and beautiful.

Pitt Rivers Museum
The Museum has a fantastic exhibition of ancient tree roots from the rainforest. In the snow these were just absolutely surreal

Roots
One of these amazing tree roots dug up in a rainforest and brought to Oxford's Pitt River's Museum

The Quad
One of Oxford's famous Quad's - the square around which a college is built. Actually this is at the back of the Sheldonian Theatre, so strictly speaking it is more of a public square than a college quad.

weather is one thing thats most unpredictable...here in delhi where i belong......temperatures have dipped to the lowest never imagined here.
