While I am waiting for time to pass by in this airplane, I figured I might as well start on writing a new blog entry. The nicest thing that struck me was that I’ve already met a lot of nice people along the way. For example, yesterday I’ve met a lady called Gonnie in the train to Brussels. The train was so full that I had to stand in the small compartment where the bathrooms are. Also there was Gonnie, a really friendly woman that asked where I was going. Apparently she had travelled a lot and not long ago she had travelled to Australia with her family. And what was really coincidental, is that she comes for Amersfoort! She told me a lot of great stories about Australia. I've assured her that if I go to Australia, I will think of her and her adventures.
(time for food, we are getting icecream now so I’ll continue in a few
minutes)
Alright, had some tasty indian chicken noodles and an icecream so I have space again for my laptop. We are currently flying above Rimouski, Canada and still one and a half hour to go. The fact that the aircraft has a tv that can tell you where you are and how long you still have to sit here, is not as nice as I thought. It just reminds you how slow the time passes by here.. But I really like seeing how the big blueness gets filled with all sorts of unknown names and places. Since we’ve entered Canada I don’t feel like sitting here anymore, I want to see it! I’m so curious of how everything looks. I am preparing for a lot of snow and cold, the forecast for this week was snow every day.. Can’t wait to see if it’s really as white as I think it is..
(Riviere-du-Loup)
How has it been until now? Well getting up in the morning was no problem. I had slept enough and was ready to go. We started walking and I realized that the streets in Brussels are not smooth and equal so carrying a 30 kilo
bag around, up the hill, is not as easy when you haven’t had breakfast yet.
Luckily it wasn’t far to the station. We got sandwiches on the way (from Panos, delicious!) and before I knew it, we were at the airport. As I had predicted, my bag was a little big heavier than the allowed 23 kilos.. 32,4 kilos to be exact. No wonder I was sweating when pulling that thing around.. I only had to pay 40 euros so it was not too bad.
The rest just went really smooth, no thorough surveillance, no fisking of any kind and I was at the gate in no time. Before I joined the queue I had a last bathroom stop and got some toothpaste from a lady that had to fly 17 hours to India. My god, I would go crazy if I would have to sit here that long!
The airline is Jet Airways from India so there are a lot of Indian people on board. Really calm and friendly people I must say. Also the cabin crew is really nice and helpful. Exceeded my expectations to be honest. I was expecting Ryanair kind of service but here
we get pampered! We have a blanky, pillow, free food and drinks, your own tv etc. Never had that before, really a nice surprise. I’ll try to enjoy it a little bit more before we arrive. They have two and a half men on this tv so you know what I’ll be doing!
Can’t wait to be there!!!
