Well I've been travelling round NZ's North Island two weeks now, Great scenery and mostly good weather. The climate is similar to a good UK summer and the landscape is rather like the nicer parts of wales/scottish highlands. The people are lovely and the place feels very safe. Villages are mostly low rise, weatherboarded buildings, New England style. Highlights of the holiday include Kayaking through a gorge, The hot spring baths, Boiling mud pools and spouting Geysers of Rotorua (thanks to Kiri for the personalised guided tour) and the stunning beaches - finally did a New Years day swim in the ocean (suppose it's cheating as its summer here). This will be my only blog from NZ as it's pricey and not easy finding internet when you're on the move.

What will you do when the trip is over?
Dad and I were wondering what you'd do. There is that trawler engine ofcourse! You're lucky that you keep in good health. Dad and I are real old crocks. There has been a bug going round and believe it or not I caught it. I rarely do. I've been in touch with auntie Norah and Jackie sent me a couple of photos. She's like dad. She looks well. I'm off to bed now as I have one of those B12 injections tomorrow. It's one of the sort where the nurse says "You'll feel a scratch" and then you feel as if she's gone into the bone marrow. I asked why she bothered to say anything at all and she said it calms the patient. So this is what calm feels like. Awful floods in Queensland. looking forward to your return. xxx
