For the sinners, the saints and those of who live somewhere inbetween

Well many things to see and write about in this entry. There are photos of the cementery down the street from my house. Lots of colors and textures. Cemetaries here seem to be a lot cheerier than in other parts of the world. On Saturday I was supposed to hike a volcano but transportation plans fell through so I went to Zaculeu wich is a Mayan ruin site a couple hours from here. It took me and my friend David 6 busses to get there and back but it was worth it. It is a park in adition to being a histroical site so there was a picl up soccer game going on and lots of families enjoying a nice sunny day on the grass. I also saw a very weird church that was painted bright yellow with crazy colors and sculptures all over it. That was in a town called San Andres Xeul. In that same town we saw a Mayan alter and got to visit the palce of worship of San Simon. San Simon is where I get the sinner part of the blog title. San Simon is an unofficial saint here in Guatamala. He is the saint of drunks, whores and gamblers. His place of worship is strewn with cigarettes and booze bottles. Also you will see more pictures of doors which I am becoming increasingly obsessed with. Last but not least are the ramdom memorials that exist here. Included are the Jewish ones as well as a random Pagoda.
