Welcome to the home of the Inca's!! In a few days we head up to Macchu Pichu, which is quite exciting, but first off we have had a nice few days not doing too much....for once!! 😊
Thursday, 4th Nov started in Puno, and ended in Cuzco. In between though we had an early brekky, and got on the transfers to our bus at 7:30am. We were off and away by 8am, sad because it was our last Rosita day of our trip....and we still have over a week to go!! :· It was a long day again, over 400km, but it was all tarmac, and Mischa went up front for a few hours to chat to the driver and his partner. This allowed Jess to listen to some music and fall asleep. Lunchtime came and went (again a last for the trip) and Mischa then had his turn to fall asleep!! We arrived in Cusco by 3:30pm, and were all unpacked at our hotel for the next few nights by 4:30pm. This allowed enough time to do a nice 1hr orientation walk with everybody, getting some good photos of the cathedrals, plaza's, churches, museums and places to eat (last one was important). From Cusco you can do a 4-day hike along the Inca Trail, but as we had chosen not to (it's a holiday!! :·) we bypassed the information meeting to be held and then met everyone for dinner at a nice local restuarant...for guinea pig.....jokes. The meals were huge, but as it was 8:30pm, we all managed to finish easily enough!! 😊 After that, it was a quiet night in trying to watch Glee (in English) and The Hulk and The Chronicles of Riddick (in Spanish).
Today....wow, we are finally UP-TO-DATE!! 😊 We had one HHUUGGEE but well-deserved sleep-in today, as we are actually staying in Cusco for 3 nights before heading up to Macchu Pichu. This meant we don't have to rush around trying to see everything, but can relax, which is exactly what we did. Out of our room by 10:30am, we missed brekky so had an apple and headed around town to see some sights. First up was San Pedro market, which was a short visit as it was much more for locals to buy produce, llama fetus', meat, rice, and everything else you would want in your South American kitchen. 😊 After that it was a nice walk to Santo Domingo Temple / Convent / Museum. There were some amazing paintings depicting Christ, Mary and many other biblical stories. Most of the convent was built over an old Incan temple, which was clear in one cool outer meeting room which you could see all the way through a hole in the wall to the other outer meeting room. 😊 There were lots of school students there too, luckily most of them had already been through and were in the massive square in the middle of the convent. From the convent it was time for lunch, and as we hadn't had Macca's for over a month, we thought we could treat ourselves to this!! There was also a cool new burger (we think its new), the Chicken Mac, which i'm sure you can imagine what it's like. Mischa had to have it....
After lunch we headed up to the Incan Musuem for a very interesting guided tour around. You can't take any photos in there, so no proof unfortunately!! (except for our tickets!!) We learnt a lot about the pre-Incan and Incan periods, from ways of cooking, to lots of stories of decapidation (popular back then apparently). Definitely recommend to anyone coming here!! 😊 After the museum, we haven't really done much!! 😊 We watched the Hulk (with subtitles now), then the end of XXX, then went looking for some nice Italian restuarant which we found after the second try....now we are about to head to bed (as Jess is falling asleep in the courtyard where I'm writing this!! 😊 )
Hope you enjoy a few of the photos and the fact you can read this in less than an hour!! Enjoy!! 😊

Apparently the Pope visited and didn't like the fact the Jesuit church looked better than the cathedral...
