Hey, wake up. Didn’t you say you want to go with me to the bakery? Huh, oh yea, I did mention that last night. Yea! I told you I was going first thing. Ok, Ok, I’m getting up.
We left the house it was 7 AM and there is a heavy fog hanging over everything. It’s spooky out here, oh please just follow me and don’t lose sight of me. I was on Kirsten like bees on honey. We wound through the neighborhood and within 5 minutes we were standing in front of the bakery.
You could smell the sweetness in the air. You don’t need to eat anything, just breathe it in. We go in and the lady behind the counter welcomes Kirsten like they went to school together. Kirsten turns and asks me “what would you like to get?” She finds me standing there with my face and hands pressed against the glass on the show case. The lady behind the counter has now stepped back and is watching me closely.
Kirsten pulls me away from the counter and the lady says, Danka Danka. Kirsten orders fresh rolls and we are out the door in minutes.
Did you see all the fresh pastries, Huh, no you were in the way! Let me tell you there’s lots and man did they look and smell gooood.
After breakfast we decided to go to Salzburg, you know one of my favorite spots; I have roots here you know, the Vaughan Traps.
We all pile into the car, I tell Helga where we’re going and she has us there in less than an hour. We’re all singing “the hills are alive with the sound of music”. Kirsten is gripping the steering wheel like she’s ready to rip it out of the dash. She whips the car into the Zentrum “center of town” parking and says “Ok, enough singing”.
Well, I guess someone doesn’t like our singing.
I just love this parking garage, it’s under the castle inside the mountain, real cool.
We pile out and locate a nice spot for Bill, it’s next to a café and has a Violin player, he’s happy.
We head toward the cog train that takes us to the top of the mountain where the castle is. Once we get to the top, after being squeezed into matchbox of
a car, we walk over to the edge of the castle wall and look down.
Man, we are way up here and we could pick out Bill sitting where we left him.
We take the guided tour; part of the admission price and it’s real nice. You go with a guide but you have a little radio that you listen to. This takes about an hour there’s too much to discuss in the blog, however they have a dungeon. O Yea.
After the tour we head back down to where Bill is camped out and have a picnic lunch with the sandwiches we made earlier this morning. It’s always fun to have picnics in the Plaza’s. After finishing our lunch we then decided to look up Annaliese’s brother. He owns one of the shops on the plaza. Hedi goes up the first shop and asks for him by name and of course he knows him and points us to him. Well, Bill and Hedi walk up to him and he is so surprised. We all get introduced and we stand around talking for 30 minutes or so, we then say our goodbyes and head back to the
car.
As were heading out of town Hedi remembers where there is a beautiful garden which is on our way out. So we stop and walk through it was worth the stop.
After finishing the gardens we were back into the car and are headed back to the house. As we come around a bend, Kirsten see’s a local village has erected a beautiful Arch over the entrance announcing a fest. Well, you know Kirsten and fest. She locks the car into a 90 degree turn sliding into our parking space. As she’s walking toward the village she says’s “Momma go up and ask those workers when the fest is”. Hedi loves to talk to the locals. Bill and I are left standing there looking like Click and Clack. Finally Kirsten gives us our instructions to go and get us a seat at the café for coffee and cake.
Now we’re talking.
It’s been a long day but we’ve had lots of fun.
Bea, Swen and Eva are coming tomorrow so the fun gets even better.
