Not your typical scuba divers accomodation!

Date: November 2007
Accomodation: Ladera
First Impression: West Wall is missing in each room, really?

Of course it is, that is what lead to our desire to try this high end tree house for the adventurous type. Did I say adventurous type? This resort is beautiful, and if you don't stay here come for drinks at sunset as there is no better place than the hotel bar perched over a cliff facing he Pitons and glorious sea. What is a seemingly quite bar fills to capacity at dusk and you will be sipping cocktails with writers from food and wine magazine, professional photographers, and all sorts of travel tip advisors.

The food here is very nice and claims to be the best resturant on the island. It is good, however, there are many spendid choices in the region.

Our room was of course, missing a wall just as advertised. The down side would be that the first night it rained sideways and while it did not soak the room you need to make not to leave items too close to the edge. The spray from the rain was fun especially since there is no AC, and having the wall missing in each room affords you an unobstruced view of the pitons and the ocean and wow what a view it is. The one downside would be the sulfur smell which is overbearing at times due to the sulfur fields near by.

Each room also has a small plunge pool, however, the agle it sits on prevents it from heating up so taking a plunge is a real icy experience. The main pool is so beautiful, high up on a bluff overlooing the ocean and the pitons. If they would only heat the pool slightly you would not need to take the shuttle down to the hotel on the beach and sneak in their pool. Howeever, this is an option you just need to be discret.

Not to be missed, however, a week was too long for me so stay a few nights and then go to another resort closer to the beach.
