Arrived in Karratha after cruising down from Port Hedland. Weather looking like rain, so booked into park at Karratha. Hasn’t rained yet! Everyone in Sunday mood. Tomorrow we don’t have work so all good. Peter found reality at wharf in Port Hedland when a man started preaching him on the ways of creation in the virtual world!! Any more info required talk to Pete later.
Lots of history at Roebourne and Cossack. Pete and I enjoyed going through the old goal at Roebourne, although what occurred was a little confronting. John and Brickie made lunch and didn’t partake of the history lesson! Mum (Ella) may never eat salt again if she saw the bulldozers and graders driving over it and heaping it into piles to put into ships and send away!!!
It’s a little cooler today...about 28 degrees! So good to ring South and hear that the wind and rain are doing their things while we are away. Tomorrow heading to Dampier, Hamersely, Karajini, wherever...
Good to miss all the election carry on. Phone coverage is good because of all the mining operations. Pete even gets VODA PHONE which he doesn’t even get in Welshpool. Lots of mining workers up here. The caravan park is full of workers and travellers.
Change of plans as Brickie had a flat tyre and has to wait Karratha to pick it up. Thinks he may have to work up here a while to pay for it. We indulged in a chinese lunch and spent time stocking up for the next leg. Headed out to the Barrup Peninsular and bush camped at Hearson Cove. Bit windy on the beach, but not far away. The sand here is made up of millions of tiny shells and broken coral. The sort of beach you collect shells on but keep seeing better ones! The wind died down in the evening and was warm enough not to need a fire.
Interesting area with all the North West Shelf gas and oil development. Housing is at a premium, lots of building going on and a great deal of single men accommodation. Prices for houses are very high.
Hi to everyone and hope you are all fantastic and saving for your next holiday!!

Been out for awhile and have done the Hamersely Gorge and all the gorges in Karijini. It has been amazing walking through them all and noting all the different rock formations. although they are all gorges they are all very diferent. we have had a few swims. Fern pool and Fortescue were great for swimming. The weather continues to be warm, no rain and very little wind. Have done lots of bush camping and all evenings were clear and calm.
We are at Tom Price and have just completed the mine tour. Very interesting. Huge machinery and lots of dust!! Having a counter lunch and then heading to Parrabadoo.

Sounds more attractive than all those camels on the last post. I'll bet you're glad to be away from the election crap. I'm sure Pete is a better person for the "road to Damascus" experience-even if it was with a lunatic on a wharf. He may have you all converted by the time you get back-or maybe not? Barry Williamson
