Being a mum!Being a mum!Being a mum!

Me doing the 'motherly' thing of talking to Patrick and his teacher about his performance this term. Patrick is one of the boys that we put into boarding school.
So what has been happening since the last blog? Well...while I have been missing Kate, I really haven't had much time to feel sorry for myself! Over the past month I have been very bust taking various kids to the dentist, the hospital, visiting four school open days and a school sports day as well as making sure that all birthdays in the house (there are about 30 including all the staff), are celebrated with cake and singing! Although I am not a mother I am getting a taste of what it must be like...just didn't think I would be getting that exposure with 24 children!!

The kids are very excited and studying hard for end of term exams at the moment as school holidays start next week...one week of school left! It is hard to believe that it has been a whole term since Kate and I arrived. When we got here it was the beginning of the school holidays, now already, the end of term is here which is what I am really looking forward to as it means I can spend more time with them.

Along with the 'maternal' duties I have been performing I have

also been busy helping the organisation with the administrative side of the operations. We have established a sponsorship program and I have been furiously typing up the children's stories to put on their website so that people can get to know the kids a bit better. If anyone would like to find out more about the kids, and might be interested in sponsorship, head to the website at http://peaceforchildrenafrica-org.ning.com/. The children's profiles are in the 'blog' section and the sponsorship program information is in the 'forum' section.

On a sad note (for me), I have booked my trip home and will be heading back to the sunny shores (or not so sunny at the moment as I hear) of Aus on September 18...not sure how I am going to say goodbye to the kids yet - I think I will need a lot of counselling from Kate who had to do it last month...not an easy thing to do.

On a happy note, I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of two of my friends who are currently doing a safari and will be heading to Kampala in mid August. I can't wait to see them and am patiently

counting down the days until they arrive. Woohoo....party time!! Not really, but it will be exciting to have some of my Aussie friends here...no offence to the Ugandan network of friends I have here!

Anyway, until next time, I will leave you with some photos from the past month.

Love
Jac.
