After a short flight from Athens, we arrived in Cairo, Egypt. This was daddy's second time here, but it was my first. We were met at the airport by a driver from the hostel who took us there. The hostel (Wake Up Cairo!), was really cool. I loved the purple/pink colors in the lobby and our room had a really interesting shower. They served us a pretty pink juice that I liked a lot. We met two really cool people from Canada, Luke and Lisa and became instant friends. I had lots of fun hanging out with them.
That night we ate a restaurant that was recommended by someone from the hotel that only had one dish. Lucky for daddy, I am not a picky eater, and I loved it! We definitely stood out as we got dressed up in our Brasilian outfits/tatoos to get ready for the Brasil's first game against North Korea. After we ate, daddy had a hard time finding a place that played the game on TV, but finally found a place. We ended up watching the first half at a small "bar" and then watched the second half at the hostel on the computer with
This is a lot of fun!!
Riding a camel at the pyramids Luke and Lisa. Brasil won the game 2-1, but did not play that great.

The next day, our only full day in Cairo, was incredible!!! Daddy hired a driver for the day who took us to sooo many different sights. The first, was the Great Pyramids of Giza. It was sooo cool. The pyramids were huge and I especially liked the sphynx which took me a long time to say correctly, as I prefered saying the "stinks". We took a camel ride which was bumpy and soooo much fun. The camel farted and I laughed for a long time. We took lots of pictures next to the sphynx.
After a couple hours there, we moved on to our next place......the temples of Dahshur. Daddy didn't visit these when he was in Egypt more than 7 years ago. We saw one pyramid that was pretty funny shaped, and not the best of triangles. But the highlight of this place was going into a pyramid...the "Red Pyramid" . After climbing a bunch of steps on the outside of the pyramid, we went down over 100 steps inside the pyramid before reaching a long passage

Wakeup Cairo! hostel that I could stand up in, but daddy had to bend over. I felt like I was searching for treasures, but did not find any. It was really fun inside though.
Next we went to Memphis where I saw a HUGE statue of Ramses II and then it was off to Saqqara. There we saw the step pyramid of Zoser.....I had a blast playing in the sand in front of the pyramid and tried to build my own. We went into some tombs and saw some really awesome pictures.

We then were dropped off back at the hostel, and after a quick shower to cool off, we walked the 2 blocks to the Egyptian Museum......THis museum was incredible with huge statues, jewelry and lots of interesting stuff. My favorite though, was the room with the mummies. Daddy promised me that they would not get up and come after us like the do in Scoobie Doo. I was very interested and asked a lot of questions.
We did not spend the second night in Cairo as our flight to South Africa was to take off a little after midnight....so we took another shower, got
ready for bed, and headed off to the airport. While my time in Egypt was very short, it was an incredible detour on the way to our main destination and where we would spend the majority of our summer's trip. I was excited, but very tired. After buying a small stuffed camel, we were off.......
