Sweet as brother and sisters from other mothers!
It came to an end 2 years in Oz.
What a time what a place what great people, emotionally I didn't know where I was. I strolled along South bank on my own a lot in the last few weeks and took in the bright orange glow of the sun and though how much I would miss these blue skies and brilliant people. Yet I was excited for New Zealand, excited I was that little bit closer to those great friends and family in the diff - it had been so long that I had seen. I questioned how it would be like traveling solo again after the most fantastic last year traveling with Leigh Lemon partners in crime. But when it came to it, goodbyes were quick and not drawn out and we know we would catch up again we were just entering another great crazy adventure in a new chapter and instead of dwelling on the greatness of whats been instead keep running, bouncing smiling into life as we had done in the last year. So it began straight off the plane I was in Auckland 16 June 2010
LETS GO LOCO!!!!!
I slept in the airport till the morning (save a night accommodation and it was quite comfy!) Then got a cheap shuttle to a hostel I had booked which the reviews read - 'drunk every night', I though BANG! So booked in with a nice lad Ed informed me tonight was a bar crawl fantastic cheap beers and get into the mixer with thee ladies! Spent the morning sorting shit out from oz and buy some warm clothes, this was not the gold coast now but winter in NZ. Got back for the bar crawl got my 'Gary' groundwork on. There was a competition for free travel round the north and a bungy jump, while laid back I am still love a competition and girl I met earlier I asked if she wanted to play what looked like a simple three innocent positions and last one went out. It soon spiced up though and was more like a mass karma sutra orgie. If you were last you could carry on if you took off an item of clothes, the girl and I were down to our undies and as the pairs dropped one by one it
was me and Charlotte against two lads. It was quite off putting looking over at two lads in a 'up the ars' position, and after some frenetic interchanges we piped the boys and won the prizes. Charlotte was off tomorrow though so I chucked her $200 and I got a bungy and the free bus ride - I was buzzing!
After a night of celebration the diary reads a lot again 'Woke rough' but today I was off to tip my hat to dub step and a great views over Auckland I headed up mt Eden 'womping' all the way up the dormant volcano to the sounds of archangel and Sierra Leone and 30 minutes later I was sat looking over Auckland appreciating life. After that I cruised down to the net where who the devil you know my main in Nz Kyle and Sofie lived and studied in Auckland. Kyle and Sofie were great mates from our crazy time in the Wellington House in Melbourne so I was out of the hostel and into a student house. It was like something from the past 10 of them with exams not stressing and Kyles mate George playing old school
Pro Evo 4 from back in the day - honestly I felt I was back in uni! WE got smashed with the girls and headed out for another messy one in Auckland.
Again 'woke rough', but a few lads were heading down to Piha for a surf and I had heard good things of Piha 45 mind north of Auckland. So as me and Sof tried not to puke in the back of a van we then set off round on a lovely afternoon stroll taking in some beautiful sights of Piha. The next day made a chili for the house as my way of saying thank you for everyone's kind hospitality. The day after a quick coffee and op shop look with Kyle went for my bungy. My pick up driver was a chilled big Maori after the bungy hung out with him in the city got high and had and awesome time, what a character. I was determined after being on the road a while to try and get the best of both worlds this time round and try and mingle with the locals as well as backpackers and was really reaping the rewards of hanging with
the locals!
That night I packed and was off on my free bus pass around the north. I had no real plan going with the flow but was off on the stray bus to have some more fun times with more new people. After a quick hug with Kyle and Sof the rolling stone was off again!
Gwaaaaaaaaaaarn Gwaaaaaaaaaarn!
