We stopped by Egypt for 3 days on our way from South Africa to Ireland. Mainly we wanted to see the Giza Pyramids, the Sphinx, and the Mummy Museum. We are in Ireland now with my mom and sister, so we don't have much time to type. I will add more later? Enjoy the pics!

Top Things to Do in Cairo:

1. Egyptian Museum. King Tut's mummy (and daddy) are there along with a host of other artifacts.

2. Khan Ali-Kalili: Cairo’s biggest open air market.

3. Giza Pyramids

4. The Sphinx

5. Luxor: Fly down to Luxor for a day or two and see the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Karnak, and Habu Temple. Luxor is more impressive than the Giza Pyramids.

In Cairo, do not stay at the Fairmont. They rent the pool to private parties. During our entire 3 day stay, they wouldn't let us use the pool, and they never offered us any discount, upgrade, or other free service or compensation. Its too hot in Cairo to not have a pool. Shame on you Fairmont!!

Brought back memories
I especially enjoyed reading about your experiences in Cairo. Steve and I were there in 1990 and it does not appear to have changed an iota... We took the train to Luxor (highly recommended if you have the time) and flew back. That's too bad about the Fairmont...
