I spent the week bunking at the Organic Farm in their dorm room. I met some cool people and enjoyed the days hanging out in town. Neil, the other volunteer teacher had to show me the ropes at the school as unfortunately my first impressions of a well organised program turned out to be premature. I'm not sure if it was just bad timing or maybe some office politics but the programme organisers didn't say boo to us all week and by Thursday evening I was glad to be getting out of there.

Apart from the inhospitable programme organisers the teaching was wonderful. The classes were mixed ages and I ended up teaching botha Level 1 class with lots of cute kids who loved my stickers and a Level 3 class with lots of adults. It was awesome chatting to the adults, learning what circumstances brought them to the (free) night classes. My best 'student' was a Lao Primary School teacher. After teaching all day she came to the night classes to improve her english. She humbled me with her commitment. My favourite lesson was when I taught them different ways of answering the telephone. They had to practise when I called them up. This proved to be highly entertaining and the whole class was in fits of giggles.

I am glad I stayed in Vang Vieng to do the teaching. The week flew by and I got to see the side of village life in Laos. As I rode past on my bike at least twice a day, local women in particular, would call out 'sabadee' (hello) to me. I felt honoured sharing that moment with them.

Hello Chloe for some reason I hadn't heard from you for a while and then tonight about 25 blogs came through I suspect many of them are identical and will have to go through them to check. Pleased your teaching went well Chloe We take so much for granted and hearing your story about the adult teacher coming back to improve her English makes one realise howlucky we are I have a Polish cleaner at the moment who is also trying yo improve her Englishshe is only 25 and catches a bus to come to me. Again I see how people who don't have it so easy strive to improve themselves. We are seeing all the neighbours on the 12 th and will miss you but I'm sure we will talk about you a lot!! Muchlove Chloe. When are you coming home?? LoveCarx
