Dan and IDan and IDan and I

On the motorbike on the way to Blue Lagoon. Dan reminded me so much of Daniel Gigs.
On Wednesday afternoon I took a VIP bus from Vientiane to Vang Vieng for the bargain basement price of 30,000 kip. I could have stayed a few more days in Vietaine but something tells me that I will be back there soon enough. The bus trip was luxurious with air con and I had both seats to myself.

We arrived in Vang Vieng town around 6pm. I checked into my guest house - Pan's Place (30,000 per night or about $3.50)and went for a walk. I ate a yummy chicken shishkebab from a street stall, had a diet coke with some nice young english girls and retired to my room to read up on the things to do in town.

Today after some fine Mulberry pancakes from the Organic Mulberry Farm Cafe I bumped into two guys from the bus. I tagged along with them for the rest of the day. We were planning on going out to see some of the districts caves but we only got as far as the 'Blue Lagoon'. This cave has a natural lagoon at its base and the water is food colouring blue... just wait for the photos! It's very Disney. We chilled out there until 2pm. After a quick trip back into town for a lemon shake we set off for a motorbike ride out to the northern outskirts of town. Here we waved and returned greeting of sabadee to the smiling locals.

It was a great day, despite some minor sunburn. Tomorrow I plan to hire a bicycle in the morning and cycle out to the organic farm to ask Mr Thai about volunteering in the region (teaching not farm work) and then after lunch I am going tubing. This is THE thing to do here and I am excited and nervous about the experience of plunging myself down the river in a tractor tyre inner tube.

Tune in to find out what becomes of me here in this town of the young, drunk and scantily clad foreign tourists. Will I change my stripes and succumb to their sinful ways or will I find meaningful work here????

Succumb to their ways!
Hey Chloe, Just so great to occasionally read your blogs and live the life of a tourist vicariously through you! All is well here in Mandurah, but missing your beautiful energy around DCPS! Lainee just celebrated her 7th b-day today with 10 friends. An awesome time for us all! I hope your tubing adventure was not too crazy! It sounds like you are having an amazing experience, Chloe! The school received your postcard and Steve said to wish you well. I hope you have luck in finding some work out there. Looking forward to hearing the next blog. Love and God Bless! Kathie xoxoxoxox
