Finally we have set out on our journey. Lyle & I waved goodbye to Pat at 10.35am and headed for Townsville. After much map checking, umming and ahhing we decided that if we wanted to get started we would have to go a different way to our original plans due to most of the roads in the North being closed.
Stopped after Cardwell at Hinchinbrook Lookout and took a couple of pictures of the views back toward the coast.
Called in at Innesfail for lunch at Café on Edith which was very efficient with great choice.
The wet weather pursued us with occasional heavy showers until Ingham where gradually the clouds lightened with a stray ray of sunshine peeping through. Thus we traveled down the coast road through Townsville and onto Charters Towers. We arrived after dark at 7.30pm. After finding the Charters Towers Caravan Park, we decided that a cabin was the way to go so were given the last cabin with 7 beds! Quite roomy.
