We flew from Shenzhen to Guilin on Thursday night. Our flight was late again as it has been every time we have flown on Shenzhen Airlines. We took the 20 yuan shuttle from the Guilin Airport into town as it is about 30km outside of town. Once we got off the bus we took a taxi to our hostel, Wada Hostel. Our room was a double ensuite(private bathroom) for 109 kuai for the night.=$15.98USD.

We slept in as we didn't arrive at the hostel until midnight. We ate breakfast at the hostel and then they helped us flag down a bus to Yangshuo. It was only 18 kuai per person to ride the bus from Guilin to Yangshuo which took us about 90 minutes. It was another crazy bus ride as we got seats but during our journey there were many Chinese sitting on little stools in the aisle and packed in as much as they could to make extra money I guess.

We arrived in Yangshuo by 1:30 and found our way from the bus station to our hostel Showbiz Inn. The hostel was sold out of double rooms so they gave us a room with 2 double beds and a private bath for 3 nights totaling 369 kuai=$54USD. The hostel had a rooftop bar, free toast and milk and free laundry(no dryer) included in the price. The location is great as we are less than 20 meters to the Li River and in a short alley off of West Street(pedestrian only) main tourist area.

After getting settled into our room we strolled around the area, got some Mexican burritos for lunch(China style but good enough) and took a boat ride down the Li River to see all the limestone formations. It was a great 2 hr ride, but I was ready to get back to our hostel as I had a horrible cold with a runny nose and had run out of tissue.

Our friends, Martin & Staci and Jimmy & Cali came to Yangshuo in October and said we must eat at Kelly's as the food was great. So we found it for our dinner our first night in Yangshuo. I had a chicken burger and Pete had beef lasgana with garlic bread. It was a nice treat as we love eating western food whenever possible and Yangshuo caters to foreigners since MANY visit this town while in China.

We are scheduled to take a 5 hr bike tour of the countryside in the morning at 9am with a local resident so we got to bed before 11pm.
