I'm currently sitting at a random little shop in Mandalay. The guy just turned on the generator so he could run the computer. He had to go to the store and buy diesel in order to run the generator that is currently powering this computer.
Meanwhile, his son stands inches from me watching everything I do. Maybe reading my emails, though he looks about 4 so I doubt he can read.
When I come home, I think I will be rather surprised not to have everyone staring at me. I feel sort of like a celebrity at times. Waving, smiling, saying hello to everyone in the streets. I can now understand why celebrities don't' like walking in public. I like the attention but it makes me very tired, very quickly.
Anyways, I headed to Kalaw from Inle Lake via truck. Our driver was in no rush to get there and we stopped every 5 km to try and pick more and more people to fill this little truck to the brim. It took 4 1/2 hours to go 40miles. Ridiculous, but fun.
Kalaw is different then what I expected. The Lonely planet describes it as a "backpacker
town," but it's more like a place to go so you can book a trek to get a way. Hope that makes sense.
So I booked a trek. The Punjab guy Robin who's sister's own my hotel, The Golden Lilly, speaks English extremely well and knows a lot about the plants and history of the area.
We hiked an easy 12 km the first day, but the second day consisted of 22 km. I was in pain for the last half, but the scenery was beautiful, as we hiked through the rice field terraces ans stopped at a Shaman's house to eat lunch, smoke cigars, and take a nap.
Not a lot of pictures from these few days but I did go to the market at around 7am when everyone was setting up and got a few good pictures with the early morning light.

Haha love your cute son...I can totally picture the two of you in matching outfits with bowties. When do you come home? My parents asked me last night...I think my mom misses you. But not as much as I dooooooooo!
