24 levels. Day 3...
So I will try to catch up part of what's gone on while talking about today.
Day 1: Frankly- difficult. Had to leave my family and boy to go 3000+ miles to a place I knew no one or anything. Scary? Very. Scared? You bet I was. Remembered God was in control? ...Tried.
Got there at 6 am dropped off at my new place around 9:30- freaked out at first cause the ethernet chord didn't seem to work, but figured it out and felt much better I was able to access youtube, facebook, and skype. Though I did cry a few times this day- no roomate, no family, no anything. I just kept praying.
Met up with the girls early-ish and went to the center of Limerick on a bus and had no idea what we were doing. It was really fun- bought towels and bathroom supplies! Met our international adviser Elaine who was cool and took us to a nice chinese dinner which was the first real meal I had had since Sunday night. It was pretty good 😊 awesome egg rolls... oh yes we all stopped at McD's in the city
Eek
Danielle! so my first food I ate in Ireland was American and Chinese. By the way they still say "oriental" here referring to anything in East Asia- interesting, yes?
Went to bed around 2 because of skype. Woo.
Day 2: slept...slept...slept...Till 2pm. hahaha- never ever happens I rarely sleep past 10 at home. So 2 was unheard of but I wasn't surprised nor upset since I really had nothing to be up for. Met with a new guy named David and he and I went to the city around 5 to get his sheets and towels and I bought a pillow sheets, a throw, some groceries, and 2 pairs of shoes- good shopping day! I
It was also Carly's b'day which I thought we were all going out early to celebrate since we had orientation early today but not so. At first David and I went to Amanda's house who lives right across from my house and she invited us for grilled cheese. Yum 😊 We had our groceries with us including 3 bags of crisps (chips) of very interesting flavor- cheese/garlic onion, roasted chicken and thyme, and roasted tomato basil...- all delicious.
We all played
Timberrrr (Jenga) with 6 people including us. That was fun. Then I was called out when I leaned out the window when I heard voices and Meghan and Britney were at my door across the street talking to 3 guys at my door! I was like, who the crap are they?!?!? "KARA! THESE ARE YOUR ROOMATES COME WITH US TO CARLYS!" So I came down and met my 3 rugby 1st year roomates. Meghan and Britney looked at me as we left for Carly's and were like, "We are coming over every night" ... yeah.
So David Amanda and I went over to House 12 and sure enough a ton of us girls were up drinking away and Carly was all dressed up and ready to go. But the three of us had no idea they were waiting for the last bus to take them to the city and we had not planned to be out nearly that late. Oh yes, my new roomate Lauren joined too- she's from the US too- yay! Very quiet though. But because the 3 of us were wet blankets we said our goodbyes to some very drunken girls and went to my place
Everyone!
everyone... House 24 and talked to the rugby boys for a while- they were nice enough, a bit more quiet and less interactive than I thought they'd be, but they told us drinking nights were Tues. and "Tursdays" (Th = T) They had to be up at 7 for practice.
Around 11:30 they turned in and Amanda and David left for their houses. Lauren and I went upstairs and pretty much that was the 2nd day.
TODAY...finally. We had orientation- LOOOONG day. First half sat there for 2 hours and had a 2 hour lunch break in which Crystal and I had intentions of eating pasta, but wanting to take care of phone problems for both us walked a mile or so to 2 phone shops only to be left disappointed because she didn't get her problem fixed and when I tried to update my phone with an Irish SIM card- I found out I'll have to call AT&T and apparently "pay" to get a code to let me do this...ugh. I don't want to spend 30-50 euro on a phone I'll have hardly 4 months- which is like 45-80$... boo. So not sure what to do yet- I
David
David wears a hat need one because more and more students have them and that's how we talk! So...NEED ONE! ARGH! But whatevs...
Crystal and I did not have pasta. We grabbed 2 bags of chips form my room and a sandwhich and walked out the door eating as we walked back to the orientation. I thought we'd be sitting again. No, after walking about 1.5 miles over the city, I walked another X# of miles over campus on a walking tour...my poor feet. I walked off those crisps though I'm sure. Ate dinner at 4:30?! Ate 2nd dinner with Pippin and Merry and my new friend Kia at 8:30 at SPARS- a fancier convenient shop? That was nice since I hadn't hung with Kia before and she's so nice 😊
We were on our way to the Stables- a pub on campus but it ended up being a drinking fest and not real interactions Kia and I hoped for when going to meet the International society. She's all for drinking but after Carly's bday- Kia had not felt well all day was kinda sick and slept for 5 hours but she said she felt better afterwawrd 😊
I came home
Meghan
Meghan the day after Carly's- she looks ok, yes? with groceries but was stopped again by Amanda and was invited up for drinking games of "Kings" it was very interesting. I did not participate but I had my share of drink. Just a bit of vodka in 7-Up and found out I had not used enough 7-Up and therefore drank very little because it tasted like pure alcohol. Ick. We invited guys across the street (my next door neighbors actually) when we saw from our 2nd story window a fire puff up in their dining room...yes. 1st years- of course. They came- and we never met them but that's no problem here. You get friendly with everyone at drinking parties very quickly. Needless to say with about 10 people in the house at a table with 6 bottles and a pack of beers- things got loud fast- well they were already loud before the boys came and it only got louder. Most amusing to me is eventhough after as many drinks one guy had, he had the courtesy to ask if he could use the restroom upstairs (normally the girls room) I giggled to myself when he asked....Unicorn. (Unicorn has something to do with "Kings"...)
But I came
Britney
Britney after Carly's last night- good yes? back early to clean my room- FINALLY. Meghan and Britney came looking for the rugbies but they weren't home, but tonight is drinking night, I imagine they were at Molly's- a pretty big hang out.
Anyways, that's the gist of the last three days and I left out a lot still. But that's about it for now 😊
