New Providence - Nassau, Bahamas.

We are finally anchored in the clear waters of the Bahamas!! In order to get this far well we had to go through two hurricanes, a bunch of tropical storms and way too many cold fronts to count!! Not to forget breaking through ice on the ICE in Jacksonville Beach Florida (see photos to prove it) !! All this being said, it’s all still worth it as this is the first step in our long adventurous journey!!

We have been very busy finishing up our long list of projects, and ended spending some five weeks in Jacksonville Beach at the Palm Cove marina. We left Jacksonville on Jan. 10th and started making way south again...

We spent several days in Vero Beach to make an onboard generator switch!! The 3KW genset that had been sold to us wound up NOT being able to make 110 volts (although it had been sold to us under this context), so we had no choice but to install another one. Thank you to all the kind help from Stephane s/c Katmandu and Peter s/v Imagine for all of their assistance and helping hands.. we could not
have done it without you!

This past Tuesday, we finally set sail south, making a few stops along the way..ending in Lake Worth to prep for our crossing.
On Friday around noon, we weighed the anchor and set sail for a Birthday Crossing for Annie to Nassau. Of all days to have a weather window, we had to celebrate at sea between wind gusts and waves. The real celebration happens EVERY day once we are down south!!!
We arrived in the Nassau harbour, safely at 6pm Saturday.. 31 hours of straight navigation. We were very tired and...as usual...very thirsty, so we cracked a couple beers and a bottle of wine to celebrate our arrival.

Hope to have some of you join us for a week this winter. We are booking up quite quickly, so drop us a note or a line to tell us when best suits you.
Cheers...

WOWWWWW
I am so impressed with the look of the boat. You guys have done a fantastic job ... congrats! That new generator looks like it could power a few of the samller cays down there! Cindy and I complained last fall that we had a cold ride down from Norfolk to Charleston but we did not have to play icebreaker - which is probably a good thing as Bennies probably don't do well in ice! Life will be soooo much better when you are anchored outside McDuffs at Norman's Cay and the cold Kaliks dont stop being served by the lovely and talented Stef! Roxanne leaves there to come home tomorrow but she will be back at McDuffs in 7 to 10 days I am gusessing - make sure she makes you a fantastic meal - she owes you a big favour for the help you provided her for her adventure. We sure wish were there again this year .... but our next sabatical is not scheduled to start until the late summer or fall of 2011 - We want it to be NOW!!!! Ambition is in teh shop this week for a few upgrades for her next journey to warm and crystal clear water. Cheers Annie and Eric Merrill and Cindy
