OLA!

We arrived in Rio on the 5th October, 9pm Rio time about 1am Uk time. We flew from Heathrow and things could not of went more swimmingly if we tried....free upgrade with BA massive seats, free booze and the food was pretty good too. Watched a couple of movies and played cards so the 10 hour flight flew in..haha. Anyway we got to Rio and eventually found the right bus to get on to the city airport then a taxi to Sata Teresa where we are staying...not so easy. Portugese is really difficult to understand and my Spanish is not great either so the whole thing is really alien to us. Taxi man dropped us off at wrong hostel and charged us far to much and you dont really want to be hanging about here with a backpack on at midnight. Eventually hailed another cab who was really helpful and he took us to the right hostel. Santa Brasilis Hostel...its amazing. It is on top of the mountain and overlooks the whole of Rio. By the time we got to sleep it was 4am UK time, knackered.

DAY TWO~ This city is buzzing and it never sleeps, kids screaming dogs barking music coming from bars. We wander down the windy cobbled streets to Cococabana and go swimming on the beach the surf is so big and you can body board!! Sweet we are on this famous beach and it must be 30 degrees. Time for lunch so we have fried whitebait and a Capirinha, one is enough as they are not shy with the measures! then we get the cable car up sugar loaf mountain. Its has been muggy and cloudy for about 2 weeks so today is the first clear day so really lucky, perfect view over the whole city, breathtaking. So far so good.

Will uplaoad some photos soon. xxxx
