Edit Blog Post

(written by Graham in an internet cafe, 12 hours before our flight to Thailand)

We'll let the pictures do the talknig for this entry (partly because we didn't do much besides eat, drink, sunbathe and swim and partly because we're behind on blog entries so need to crank this one out quickly).

In summary........

Palolem
South Goa, lots of restaurants, nice, sparsley populated beach often shared with stray dogs and cows. Stayed 5 nights in total, sunset strolls aplenty.

Food - great pizza and pasta at Magic Italy, great steak at Cool Breeze, awesome curried king prawns on the beach washed down with plenty of Kingfisher.

Took part and came second in a charity pop pub quiz. Proceeds went to a shelter that neutered stray dogs. Our team name? "Snip Doggy Dogg".....comic genius I think you'll agree.

During the week Palolem was awesome, very relaxed. Got busier over the weekend and relaxation factor plummeted so bailed at that point.

Saved some money by letting Kerry cut my hair. Nuff said.

Managed to get into an arguement with management/staff/everyone of the beachfront bar after they started to threaten/scare a child-tout who had been operating in front of their shack. Was pretty out of order (blame the parents, not the kid says I), and there was a hairy moment where I'd offered the manager and his staff "outside" if the kid got beaten as they were threatening (yes I know, pretty dumb in hindsight) but apart from that we had a great time here.

Then took a taxi to........

Kerry's two pence worth:
Actually Magic Italy was AMAZING food. We could have been in Italy. Even had Speck and salami on the menu! We took advantage & had a cheese platter. Mmm.... The tiger prawns were also amazing. Some of our best food in India!

Benoulim
Stayed in a reasonably expensive hotel here, midway between Palolem and Panjim. Nice beach, very remote location, hardly saw another tourist the whole time we were there........but it rained ALL THE TIME.

Graham turned 30 - went swimming in the rain in the hotel pool to celebrate. Then went out, got drunk, argued with local restarant owners re. the price of their king prawns (R 300 per prawn? get real! we'd been paying about R 40 in Palolem), treated ourselves to an "Italian Trattoria" where the food turned out to be diabolical, argued some more, staggered home.

Good times!

Kerry's two pence worth:
I shudder to think of that food! Sweet cheese pasta sauce. WHAT?!?

Took another bus to.......

Panjim
Capital of Goa, Portugese colonial architecture and feel to the whole place - very cool. More awesome food (spicy Portugese-India fusion, very very good!), walked around town, appreciated the architecture and vibe. Had monumentally good curry in the evening.

Only spent 24hrs in Panjim but loved it - want to go back one day.

Kerry's two pence worth:
Maybe we'll go back. Let's not be too hasty..

Then we flew north to Udaipur........
