Today (Sat) we were in Reykajavik our last stop in Iceland. We docked about 7 am but our tour wasn’t leaving till 11 so since Mom and I were up by 6 we decided it was a good time to do laundry. We did run out to the store at the port to get postcards while things were drying. The jeans still weren’t dry when we got back so we decided to let them dry in the room and went up to meet Erin for breakfast.
We took the Blue Lagoon Tour which started with a drive to an old church right next to the president’s house. We were supposed to have a tour inside but it was locked. There was still a nice view from there so got some photos and then we headed to the Blue Lagoon. Our tour did not include swimming in the lagoon (there were others that did). We started with a small snack (choice of salmon or tomato/cheese sandwich, some fruit, and donut like cakes). We had about an hour here. I did put my hand in the water and it was very warm. They expected the runoff to filter into the ground but it apparently filled up the holes in the lava and created a lagoon which looks blue because of the minerals. It got a reputation for curing skin diseases of people who went into the water so eventually they created a new lagoon next to it with better facilities and not as rocky from the lava rock.
Next we headed thru a fishing town and then along a fairly long gravel road to the Hot Springs. We had some time there to walk the up to view them and then headed to a very pretty lake before heading back to the city and then the ship.
We got back in time to find something to make crazy hats with for Bingo but there weren’t enough people since some tours were still out but several of us stayed and talked until it was time to go to dinner. After dinner the casino was reopened but neither Mom or I did very well tonight though several others did (Dennis included). Mom and I headed to the show called Caliente by the Cast. It was good
but not the best we’ve seen.
I think everyone is ready for a sea day tomorrow after 3 busy port days and we lose an hour tonight so will try to get this posted now.

The Blue Lagoon is awesome, so are the other pics. Thanks for sharing them and the info. Thanks for taking us along on your cruise through the blogs. Very interesting. Janet
