Mail shoutouts...

A three month long letter from one akaur of San Diego. Love you dear and another letter is on its way!

A letter from mom, including a copy of Ben´s graduation announcement and a copy of my IRA status.

One manilla envelope from vicenogle of the Lake full of seeds. Thank you!

Two manilla envelopes of seeds from one jlynch of Omaha, NE. Thank you!

ALSO, I got the two big boxes from mom via Ann via the office in Managua. And inside was a big bag of seeds from pallen of the Lake! Thank you, too!

So I was writing thank you notes to the Seed Bank benefactors, and came to these conclusions.

25 women showed up to the first Seed Bank meeting. They formed a directiva - board of directors - and they distributed the first bunch of seeds among themselves. A few more batches have come in and we will have another meeting. Also, I am visiting the women to see how their gardens are coming... especially with the herbs and non-traditional vegetables like spinach and eggplant and peas.

With 25 women planting 25 gardens, these gardens will feed AT LEAST 200 people. That would mean each garden only fed 8 people, and 8 people in the family and extended family is an UNDERESTIMATE. I would guess that each garden will serve more like 12 people, which would mean that 25 gardens could feed about 300 people.... and that´s half of the population of my community.

And if all goes well and everyone gathers and saves seeds, the seeds that you all have sent will continue to feed half of Moropoto, Nicaragua, for years to come.

Not bad. Not bad at all.

Thus far, a big THANK YOU to:
